They're just too good. Our lads gave it a go but once the second goal went in you could see the belief disappear.

I'm not sure Sargent has got the sharpest football brain but he tries and I don't think Gilmour is destined for greatness but Rashica is looking like a very good signing, he is increasingly impressive.

Yes, I often see/hear fans of Gilmour saying about how he always demands the ball... so he might but what about what he actually does with it? He produces the odd good knock but nothing that most of the others can't do.

And when you haven't got the ball he can't get close to teams at this level. They're all too strong/quick for him and when he joins in a press it doesn't look like he has the same conviction aa some of the others.

What can you even do? We gave it a go particularly in the first half but we were basically playing against robots. How boring must being a Manchester City supporter be? Every game it's like they're basically playing FIFA on the easiest difficulty. They're not even like Liverpool where their style of play is quite dynamic and exciting, they literally just pass, pass, pass until you make a mistake or they wear you down enough that some space opens up.

It's a shame as I actually thought City's goal came during our best spell of the game. We looked pretty threatening on the counter attack (I say 'we', Rashica looked threatening on the counter attack) and it was clear Man City's defence wasn't invulnerable. We got in behind them a few times and were so unlucky with Hanley's header that came off the post. If that is just a few inches to the left or the rebound falls more kindly to Gibson and we take the lead then who knows what happens. Disappointing as well that their opener came from a Aarons mistake, completely missing the ball when trying to clear, if he just puts his foot through it and it stays at 0-0 then again, who knows. Ultimately though City were just too good. 4-0 flattered them a bit but certainly once they got the 2nd our heads just dropped and they took full advantage.

I have to say as well I know it essentially didn't matter because we were 3-0 down and it was the 89th minute, but what a fucking appalling decision it was to award City a penalty at the end. Genuinely disgraceful. Delap literally runs into Hanley as Hanley is running in a straight line, there's hardly any contact anyway and yet the ref points to the spot. Ridiculous. The soft award of the pen, followed by Sterling missing it only for it to luckily fall back on a plate for the rebound, just summed up the Premier League's top 6 in a nutshell for me. Constantly getting given soft decisions and even when they make a mistake or aren't at their best they get a massive slice of jam to help them out. A real shame for Gunn, even though the game was already lost. He had another good game today, couldn't have done anything about the goals, and saving a penalty could've given him a lot of confidence.

Rashica undoubtedly man of the match. I thought there were some good performers out there but how are you even able to show it when the opposition has 75% possession. I don't think Gilmour was terrible today, I actually thought he was probably the best of the midfield 3, but I did say to my mate during the game what is our actual win percentage with him in the side? Every time he plays we seem to lose. I mean today that you can't put that on him obviously but I do wonder if it's a coincidence that we look a much more competitive side without him in it.

Liverpool away next, can't wait :D hopefully Idah is ok for that one, a serious injury to him would be a big blow. Obviously while it's highly unlikely we get anything next week, the following 3 league games consist of Southampton, Brentford and Leeds, a run we simply have to be getting points from. So if even if we do lose at Anfield if we can at the very least come out of that game with a little bit of confidence or momentum, that would be great.

1-0 to Manchester City at half-time (thanks to a goal by Raheem Sterling that was mightily similar to Wilf Zaha's on Wednesday night) but NCFC are giving a good account of themselves and, with a bit of luck, could have scored when Grant Hanley hit the post ... my choice for stand-out performance in first-half for NCFC has been Pierre Lees-Melou, he has been excellent in breaking up attacks both by tackles/blocks and with his positional play, he also played some decent attacking passes ... I'm still hoping for a point at least but I'm afraid I may be hoping for a bit too much

4-0 to Manchester City at full-time (thanks mainly to a Raheem Sterling hat-trick) .... second half performance by NCFC nowhere near as good as that in the first-half, perhaps the early goal knocked them back a bit .... no lack of effort from the lads but the enormous gap in quality was there for all to see .... I was baffled by the decision to take off Pierre Lees-Melou as Kenny McLean and Billy Gilmour had done nothing in midfield to justify staying on the pitch instead of him .... bad luck on Angus Gunn re the penalty .... 4-0 was disappointing considering how we'd played in the first-half but it's only Liverpool away next so what's to worry about

can't believe some people are still moaning about the same old crap as when Daniel Farke was in charge .... Dean Smith and Craig Shakespeare have worked wonders with this team, the style is more pragmatic but has made us harder to beat, the defence is looking more solid, players other than Teemu Pukki have started chipping in with some goals, the work rate is higher, the so-called rubbish players have started to become more effective and we have an unlikely chance of staying up .... yes we were beaten yesterday, but we were beaten by the best team in the country, a team where the combined yearly salary of several of their players is more than our entire club is worth .... relegation is not OK, but if that happens we now have the nucleus of a team than can get promotion next season .... maybe not with the same cavalier football of Daniel Farke's teams, but with good, solid teamwork and effort

I wish you a long, healthy and happy retirement Mr Numan. I took the packet at 53, and still enjoying. I still, for the life of me, don'tt understand why Gilmour gets the nod each game. Surely against Man City, not a blood and thunder team, he had an excellent opportunity to shine. He didn't
