What can you even do? We gave it a go particularly in the first half but we were basically playing against robots. How boring must being a Manchester City supporter be? Every game it's like they're basically playing FIFA on the easiest difficulty. They're not even like Liverpool where their style of play is quite dynamic and exciting, they literally just pass, pass, pass until you make a mistake or they wear you down enough that some space opens up.
It's a shame as I actually thought City's goal came during our best spell of the game. We looked pretty threatening on the counter attack (I say 'we', Rashica looked threatening on the counter attack) and it was clear Man City's defence wasn't invulnerable. We got in behind them a few times and were so unlucky with Hanley's header that came off the post. If that is just a few inches to the left or the rebound falls more kindly to Gibson and we take the lead then who knows what happens. Disappointing as well that their opener came from a Aarons mistake, completely missing the ball when trying to clear, if he just puts his foot through it and it stays at 0-0 then again, who knows. Ultimately though City were just too good. 4-0 flattered them a bit but certainly once they got the 2nd our heads just dropped and they took full advantage.
I have to say as well I know it essentially didn't matter because we were 3-0 down and it was the 89th minute, but what a fucking appalling decision it was to award City a penalty at the end. Genuinely disgraceful. Delap literally runs into Hanley as Hanley is running in a straight line, there's hardly any contact anyway and yet the ref points to the spot. Ridiculous. The soft award of the pen, followed by Sterling missing it only for it to luckily fall back on a plate for the rebound, just summed up the Premier League's top 6 in a nutshell for me. Constantly getting given soft decisions and even when they make a mistake or aren't at their best they get a massive slice of jam to help them out. A real shame for Gunn, even though the game was already lost. He had another good game today, couldn't have done anything about the goals, and saving a penalty could've given him a lot of confidence.
Rashica undoubtedly man of the match. I thought there were some good performers out there but how are you even able to show it when the opposition has 75% possession. I don't think Gilmour was terrible today, I actually thought he was probably the best of the midfield 3, but I did say to my mate during the game what is our actual win percentage with him in the side? Every time he plays we seem to lose. I mean today that you can't put that on him obviously but I do wonder if it's a coincidence that we look a much more competitive side without him in it.
Liverpool away next, can't wait

hopefully Idah is ok for that one, a serious injury to him would be a big blow. Obviously while it's highly unlikely we get anything next week, the following 3 league games consist of Southampton, Brentford and Leeds, a run we simply have to be getting points from. So if even if we do lose at Anfield if we can at the very least come out of that game with a little bit of confidence or momentum, that would be great.
