He is. He raised the urgency of our play. That is an impact.
I mean he's not the answer going forward but what he does show you is what has been missing - someone who can up the tempo at home.
Leitner has been trying and Hernandez looks like he can. But it needs more.

A very welcome win, and for that I'm thankful. I thought Vrancic had a good game, likewise Hanley. Can't let the 'performance' of the referee go without comment. I can only think they are letting anyone on the course, and don't allow anyone to fail. I feel sorry for the players having to play to the whistle and the vagaries of an idiot like that. Similarities to the 'Squeaker' of the House of Common imo. The only thing I feel sorry towards MPs having to put up with that little twerp.OTBC.

First half I thought we played really well, though Reading were absolutely woeful in that half, they picked up there level in the second half and we let ours drop, and instead of us coming away with a comfortable 4 or 5 goal win like it looked like being in the first half we had a nervy 45 minutes of football to witness,
I thought that Reed and Vrancic both did a good job all game but you'd have to question if either would be starting if Trybull, Tettey or Leitner were fit,
Hernandez I feel is getting better every time I see him and at last we have someone that busts a gut to get in the box to support the attack though he was also quieter in the second half,
Srbeny i feel is starting to get into the swing of things and linked up well, but should of taken his golden chance in the second half to put the game to bed
All in all I can't complain, we've been needing a win and got the three points, even if it was unnecessarily nervy in the second half

Considering previous disappointments at home I was not expecting much, but in fairness that first half was very decent and we should have gone in at 4-1 comfortably and it wouldnt have flattered us. Reading had to improve, and they did, but I still thought we should have notched a couple.
Its a weird season and one that I am wishing away a bit I'm afraid.
Agree 100% with the above comments, and I for one must demonstrate more patience before writing off new signings, as we are seeing them improve significantly and growing at this level. Yeah we made it hard work for ourselves, but 3 points is 3 points and it's nice to get back to winning ways at home. First half performance was good, though I actually think we played better in the first halves of the Bolton and Nottingham Forest games. Key difference I guess was that Reading were very poor. Even so though we deserved the lead going into the break, and I was actually thinking 2nd half we could get a couple more. 2nd half I don't know whether it was Reading being more active and pushing us further up, or whether we just sat deeper, but we weren't anything like as convincing. We still did enough to merit the win and looked the better side, but it was still frustrating viewing.
Vrancic my man of the match. Delighted for him to get his first goal and some of his passing was fantastic. The ball over the top to Murphy in the first half after beating a couple of Reading players, and also the one in the 2nd half to Murphy with the outside his boot shows that he's playing with a lot more confidence at the moment. I think we really could've done with a Tettey/Trybull next to him though. Reed is a good little player but we really needed someone who could break up Reading's play with a bit force in that 2nd half. Hernandez very good again. Could be a really important player for us next year. Very unselfish, grafts really hard, is a constant problem for defenders and actually is a lot stronger than he looks. Thought Srbeny looked a lot more promising today as well. His hold-up and link-up play was very good at times he's just missing that clinical streak at the moment that you want from your striker. He's improved though on his last couple of games though which is a good sign. Pleased with Josh Murphy's performance all in all. Still not perfect by any means but did a lot more of what everyone wants him to be doing. Pinto was much better after looking slightly off the pace against Hull and Barnsley, as was Jamal Lewis. Klose, Maddison, Hanley and Reed all good and Gunn made a couple of great saves.
Both goals we conceded were very poor. The first goal in particular was a complete mess which, yeah Reading got a couple of lucky bounces, but we had chances to clear it and we just didn't. 2nd goal is poor defending as well. Against a better side today we probably wouldn't have won the game, but whilst generally we were good, Reading were really very bad, particularly first half.
Nice to go into the international break on a win though. Up a place in the league and level on points with the scum now. Let's get a couple of our key players back from injury now and put a few wins together in the last 8 games. Also, final note, the ref today was complete crap.

I was really surprised how poor Reading were defensively, bearing in mind who their manager is you would have thought they would be far more organised at the back.

Isnt Wes second only to Maddison for chances created per minutes on pitch? That would argue against this sideway rubbish (as would the amount of assists and chances created hes got for us every season).
As to the game itself, Vrancic was at the heart of most which was good, particularly in the first half. He actually played balls which forced us to run in behind.

Anyway, he wont be here past this season id suspect but his statistics for his entire time under us tell far more of a story than anything else.

He has been a great player for us, but fans need to cast their emotion aside and look for new heroes.

Not sure how we made such hard work of a terrible Reading side.
That said, Liam Kelly was very good for them and it was a result that Stam ridiculously took him off. I'd probably also take Liam Moore over Timm Klose, who continues to be a weak link.

Not sure of those highlights are biased or not, but looks like we should have had a few more?
I hope Srberny's decision making is just down to him needing a goal to settle him down a bit, that one where he should have left it for Maddison but snapped at it on the turn instead is less forgivable than the miss I think! Suspect Farke would have called him out on that one in the dressing room.
Plus it looks like Josh Murphy was doing what he should be doing... running at people, because when he's not he's kinda redundant.

Yeah we could have had a few more goals. And Josh said in an interview he is a lot happier playing in a more conventional wide position, and it shows!
