Not too many changes from the team last Friday against Millwall, I wouldn't think. Nobody really played their way into the starting lineup, Cantwell, Sara, Gunn, Tomkinson and Hugill all did okay, Idah likely earned himself a place on the bench.

In their two home games so far Sunderland have drawn with Coventry and QPR, which leads me to believe they aren't playing well at home, for some reason. So calling a win for us here, this could be the game where it all just properly clicks.

With Pukki back, Hugill scoring and Idah with minutes in the tank, that bodes well, but still Sargent starting, for me.

Enjoy the game, I worry that 'Saragaent' may have scored his the season already.
Let's hope I'm wrong.

Enjoy the game Tank. Don't think Sarge has finished yet, McLean tbf has stepped in at LB and done OK.

Reflection on cup defeat… DS: “I wanted to get through the round, but we didn’t create enough opportunities. I’m glad it gave the young players some minutes.”

Idah and Pukki DS: “I thought they livened us up when they came on and showed glimpses of their relationship from last season.”

On bringing in a new left-back… DS: “The process is still ongoing. We have six days left in the window.”

DS: “Sam’s numbers were high after 45 minutes so we felt it was the right time to bring him off.”

DS: “Very rarely have I been sat in an office while the clock is ticking (transfer deadline day). I’m usually tucked up in bed. We like to get our business done before.”

DS: “There are lots of plates spinning and possibilities of ins and outs at every club, whether they’re loans or permanent signings.”

Dean Smith describes says it’s “ridiculous” that #ncfc fans will have to get to Sunderland for a 12:30 kick off tomorrow. He says things need to be looked at with supporters in mind.

Sam Byram.. DS: “He’s got 45 minutes under his belt now. It will be about managing him and what he can tolerate.”

DS: “I told you Andy had an ankle injury, but he came in on Monday morning saying he wanted to train, and medically he was okay to. “I love the attitude of the lad.”

DS: “Sunderland are a big enough club to be up there in the table.”

Kenny McLean joked with Max Aarons yesterday that he’s only six years away from a testimonial. Smith is impressed with the way he handles transfer speculation.

No fresh injury concerns for our trip to Sunderland this weekend

Enjoy the game Tank. Don't think Sarge has finished yet, McLean tbf has stepped in at LB and maintained his usual very low standards whilst still managing to point at everyone else on the pitch!
Fixed that for you.

Mr Tank. That's one almighty trip for a game, what on earth are the authorities doing, making that a lunch time kick off?
Have a good trip, enjoy your day, and have a big old shout for us that are not there

What team will Deano put out today?
Could be Pukki's last game for us?
Ramsey & Idah could get on the score sheet.
Seriously, I can see Smith playing Pukki, Sarge, Idah and Ramsey today but who knows in what order.
The way Sunderland play could seriously catch out our passing game, I reckon 2-2

Let's hope Deano sorts it out at halftime.

Need a bit of a kick up the arse here. There’s so much space in behind Sunderland’s back 3 that if we can get ourselves into those positions we’ll get some joy. But that’s only happened a couple of times so far as we just seem incapable of moving the ball through the pitch fluently.

Every single time we try and move the ball forwards it’s coming straight back at us. Our midfield is completely non-existant, especially since Gibbs went off. There’s massive holes in our formation and to make it worse the quality of our passing when we try and play out from the back has been so poor. We’re very lucky not to be behind here the amount of times we’ve given the ball away in our own half.

Come on Deano, sort this out at half time. I do feel like control of the game is there for us to take if we can step it up, but we need to make some massive improvements to our performance to do that.
