Norwich living advice needed

Hi folks, I'm a West Brom fan who is here in peace on a non footie related matter.

My wife and I are thinking of moving to your fine city and we are wondering if you can help us with advice on the best places to live for folks of our ilk.

We have a budget of about £300k and two kids, aged 11 and 9. I guess we are your typical professional types, we run our own business, who enjoy a bit of culture, nice pubs and days at the coast.

We have just spent a few days up there near Wells-next to the Sea and I know your part of the world relativelywell having spent a couple of years not so far away in Kings Lynn back in the 90s. 

So really it's good schools and relatively family friendly areas we are looking at and much prefer older style character properties.

Hope you can help. I've tried talking to a few estate agents, but they haven't been that useful. They just seem more interested in selling what's on the market at the minute without giving us the bigger picture. We need to do our groundwork first.  Any advice appreciated.

Good luck with protecting your Prem status this year and well done on your win over us the other week, and the win over Newcastle You may have hit form at the right time and I hope Dorrans and Mulumbu are playing their part. Both fine layers for us, who have helped us stabilise in the Prem, which I never thought was possible after years and years of misery. Have been to Carrow Rd before and really enjoy the atmosphere an the fact you've got really good fans rather than the pond life so many bigger places have.

Another dull season for us under Pulis, but seeing Villa crash and burn has been a delightful side show for all of us in the West Mids.

If you are looking to move into the city itself then look at the NR2 postcodes, particularly the Golden Triangle (all the streets around Unthank Road). 

If you are looking for more the suburbs then Eaton or Hethersett. 

If you are looking to buy out in the sticks then no advice really, other than don't buy somewhere where they are still waiting for broadband and have to use a torch in the absence of street lights.

Most of Norwich is nice really, not too many areas which are no go areas at night. 

Depends what your size requirements are really, if 3 bedrooms is enough then your budget is enough to live pretty much anywhere in Norwich. If you need 4 bedrooms then you might struggle in the Golden Triangle.

Be aware that buses are not too good in Norwich so stick within 20mins walk from the City center, unless you want to be driving your kids around day and night for next few years.

Catton, Sprowston, Thorpe StAndees, Eaton or Cringleford. Prices vary in those areas so you will get more bricks for your money in Catton, but Cringleford is 'nicer' area.
