Norwich have just made a 10million pound bid for Ross McCormack. Your opinions pls.

That is less than Fulham paid for him and yet his goals kept them safe.

His record down south is good and I don't think his age makes too much difference, Holt was of a similar age when he joined us.

It will be a gamble as even if we got him for £10M, that is the kind of money that the board and many NCFC supporters will cringe at.

I would say if we really want him then go for it. Let's not lose him to someone else for the sake of prudence.

overrated and past it. would be crazy to spend 10m on him, let along the 13-14 it'll ptobably end up being. lightweigth as well.

We're definitely overpaying, but we won't know if it was worth it in the end til June. Doesn't play well up front on his own, as Hooper didn't, so I hope we have a plan on how to best utilise him.

Will be repaid in one promotion, that's the way I'm looking at it.

I'm always talking about how annoyed I am that we sign 29/30 year olds, but when it comes to signing a proven goalscorer this season I'll make an exception.

This is all from last season, assassin:

It is a bit odd that Alex Neil couldn't find a place for Gary Hooper but is planning to build around McCormack though, who is essentially a less lazy version of Hooper but with the addition of being a free kick specialist.

Makes me wonder whether Hooper was just fed up here and Alex Neil couldn't get him sufficiently motivated. You'd expect Hooper and McCormack to finish the season on a similar number of goals.

Although McCormack can play on either flank also, so potentially could play Jerome up front with McCormack out wide when the opportunity presents itself to really try and punish a team, and if we win promotion and McCormack proves to be out of his depth up front in the league above (remains to be seen, he's untested that that level) then perhaps that means he isn't made redundant and will do a job for us as a wide forward?

While some say that we have been slow off the mark again, there has been hardly any business in the Championship apart from Villa and Newcastle spending a bit and a few loans and frees.

I wonder how much business will be done in 10 days time? There are five games in August, a potential of 15 points. Instead of the usual panic buying at the end of August, allowing that Fulham might not sell until they have a replacement, get the player in now and lets get the season off to a flyer. Those five games will not be easy without a goalscorer so let's give ourselves the best chance.

That was the first film I have watched on him and I must say I like the pace and placement he can get on the ball from standing still with multiple defenders around him.  He knows where the goal is at all times.

Has any other Norwich fan had the same "oh" moment that I just had.....

What if McCormack is our Robbie Brady replacement and the plan is actually to sign another striker too? He is left footed and can play left wing. That would be interesting!

proven goalscorer who is at his peak who probably wont be able to perform at a higher level.  Age & lack of pace are against him which mean he is a good signing for any championship club depending on the price tag and expected wages (rumoured £13m & £50k pw are simply not reflective of his talent &/or future potential)

Pleased if he signs but we will still need another striker with some pace and power as an alternative to Jerome as the lone striker.

I think £50 k a week is just a rumour, and a bad one too. No way would we pay that figure.

Sounds like we may be moving on to other targets. Fulham may have got greedy with their demands.

Thank goodness for that.

Dangerous goalscorer without a doubt, but doesn't fit the system, massively overpriced with limited potential re-sale value, and if wages are in the amounts suggested (30-50k) could be a cripplingly high wage to maintain in the champs if we don't go straight back up.

We need someone to challenge Jerome ffs, not another no10/goalpoacher when we already have Naismith, Wes & Maddison (and RvW)...

He's a classy forward that works hard and can play a variety of roles. Pretty sure Neil will would finda system for him. He's much more like a Jerome than the number 10s you've mentioned.

That being said, even if we stick with 4231 our striker will have far more support next season. Lesser opposition will mean that Naismith and the wingers will be playing virtually alongside the forward.

If Villa get him then we're going to need to pull a Rabbit out of a foreign league as we aren't getting better from England.

But none of them are likely to get you 20 goals.

I'll take his goals and promotion over re-sale value.

As for resale value. I'd much rather our main striker was signed for us now and not Southampton in 3 years time.
