One thing I am sure of is that we don't want to be fannying about with a diamond trying to accommodate Wes.

I understand what you are saying but lets not get carried away too much after two wins. If we are going to go up it is going to be down to our defence. If we stop conceding then we will not lose and always be in with a chance of winning. Of course it would be great to beat them. And I remember 2003 when we went there and won 4-0 after a 0-0 first half and that was the first time we hit top spot with the rest being history.

Perhaps I am not fully trusting that the recovery is complete yet and see this game as more of a don't lose than anything else.

Yeah, I can agree with that.

Derby play a short passing, possession dominating game, especially at home (a la Swansea). Having watched them against Boro, they were completely thrown out of their stride by a hard pressing Boro side which never gave them a moment on the ball. To start Redmond would play into their hands, allowing them to dominate midfield and control the game. I'd go with the same starting lineup again, playing through balls into the channels like we did at Wigan. Get an early goal and we stick, but if not we have Redmond. Wes, Lafferty and Grabban on the bench if we need to attack later.

I am watching them against Chelsea and, yes they are being outplayed by arguably the best team in the country, but their midfield do work so hard and as YF has said, they play short passes hoping to work possession up the pitch knowing if they lay it off to Martin they know he has the strength to hold it up and bring the forward moving midfield into the game further up the pitch.

Bryson is a real handful. He is tireless and does a job similar to Kevin Nolan.

They are attractive to watch and are always looking to progress. I think we have to be on our mettle and have to match them in midfield or we will be on the back foot too often.

And they have just lost a defender to a red card who won't be available on Saturday!

Chris Martin has just pickled up a yellow, his 5th so he won't be available on Saturday I believe.

Buxton won't be that much of a loss as Shotton served his suspension tonight so will be back on Saturday.

That's 3 losses in the last 4 games for Derby if we really want to clutch straws!  :p

Just hearing that Martin may not be banned, as there was a cutoff at end of November for reaching 5 yellows? Anyone know more?

Am now reading the amnesty is Dec 31st.

Still not sure lol.

I heard that if he got a yellow he'd be banned - the cut-off should be around mid-season, so Dec 31st sounds more like it, Morty.

Yeah looking into it now, but all the articles are from 2011 and 2009, so not 100% sure.
