Well Neil Lennon is having a good start to his job, just as Neil Adams had a good start to his. Not going to proclaim Lennon as somebody who would have been our new messiah, in fact a year ago a lot of people were calling for Uwe Rosler who had a good start at Wigan but is close to losing his job. Many managers have a honeymoon period. Although I always thought that Lennon or Malky would be the sensible choice this past summer (I was wrong about at least one). 

Anybody have any suggestions for candidates?

Mine is Simon Grayson. Promoted with Blackpool, promoted with Leeds, promoted with Huddersfield, and currently in 2nd place with Preston. Leeds fans wanted him back but he refused to return after a harsh sacking. 

I can't think of anybody who was consistently achieved their objectives like Simon Grayson, three clubs and three promotions to the Championship, no relegations and all three clubs still in this league where he left them. 

If we had the clout to pinch Lambert from Colchester in 2009, then surely we'd have the clout to pinch Grayson from Preston in 2014? The fact that it would upset Leeds fans (who still love Grayson) would make it all that much sweeter. Plus, he knows a few of the players here and perhaps he'd even give Becchio a new lease of life.

Highlights from last night.

I was expecting to lose against a decent Boro side, in form with an excellent manager. I didn't expect to be humiliated by inept tactics, shocking defending and poor predictable attacking play.

We were outclassed last night. They looked like Man City, once they went 2-0 up they eased down a gear and basically took the *bleep*. We looked like, well, Norwich City back in the Prem against a team out of our league. To be honest if Boro had wanted to, they could've put 6, 7 or 8 past us but they chose to keep it tight and not gamble. That's what really got me. I'm used to feeling humiliated at away games but last night was an utter embarrassment.

They were disciplined, we were a shambles. Redmond played ok but completely lost his sh*t on a number of occasions, behaving like an 8 year old. None of the senior players stepped up and tried to settle him down. We had a lot of possession but Boro seemed to be in control even when they lost the ball.

I don't blame the players, they all made an effort. Our management team got it very wrong.

I also have no idea why Hooper gets such a lot of love from the fans. He was just as hopeless last night as usual.

Whilst I blame the manager for the loss, I don't think we should change. Adams has shown that he has it in him to pull off a decent result but he is showing just why being a manager at this level is a hugely difficult job. Let's face it, most managers fail. I think we should carry on with Adams until Xmas, if we are in the top 6 then, fine. If not, well.......

He's the man who gave Cameron Jerome something like 15 starts in three seasons, including one season where they were the lowest scorers in Europe, so doubt Jerome would be too happy with that. I wouldn't be completely against the idea, but there is no way that Pulis would come here unless he was permitted to sign a multiple wingers asap. Every Pulis squad has had a plentiful supply of decent wingers, and we've left ourselves with one (Redmond) and a half (Murphy). 

I know that I keep saying it, but the most ludicrious thing about Adams management is that he was an accomplished winger and yet has let four wide players leave and hasn't signed a single replacement. I just can't get over that. 

In close second is the signing of three centre backs, who he then decides aren't good enough to keep Steven Whittaker out of the side. I never wanted Adams, but I honestly expected him to be able to at least be able to build a squad logically and pick players in their correct positions.

I just don't know what to say anymore, what the heck has gone wrong, absolutely rubbish last night, it's time someone did something about it before it's to late,didn't the board learn anything from last year, I never like to see anyone get the sack but it's the club that counts more than anything!

We did remember - turns out the best candidate was in Norwich all along...
