Really pleased. A focused Wes will be invaluable this season. We were all frustrated under the last regime and anything he said is just water under the bridge to me.

so it has been confirmed that Leroy Fer won't travel with the team as he is on his own conditioning program. Hooper and Howson are both out but Tettey is available. Bassong and Bechio also won't be part of the squad.

Great news regarding Fer!  Good to see the club giving him special treatment, he's integral for us, best he doesn't travel with the first team as we need him fully conditioned!!

..hope they shampoo him first, and clean round his ears too - Don't want a dirty Fer sat in our shop window do we?

Was any explanation given for Becchio and Bassong? Are they still busy training as RAF pilots?  ....Or are they on some kind of Alien testing program?

I liked EB's comments: "we have real direction" and "we love working for the manager".

Benno must be hyped to be back playing this season.  He was definitely on the way up until he got injured, great attitude throughout.

Can certainly relate a lot more to Adams and I do like his approach to interviews. Very fair assessment there I think. I imagine Tettey will need to work up his fitness before he's in contention for a start though, even if he is fine.

Thanks for posting the interviews Andy. Nice to hear the way he spoke about Wes, you do get the impression that it's a very together squad at the moment which is going to be essential if we are to do well. With Neil's media experience he is always going to be good in front of the camera, let's hope he's being interviewed as the winning manager Sunday evening.

I just don't get it re: the situation with Fer..

Fair enough, he was given extra time off because of his World Cup commitments and these would have meant his fitness levels were maintained throughout the Summer anyhow.

Now he is to have extra time off because of his honeymoon. This is wrong in my book.

Call me an old hardy, but these players are paid massive amounts of money to play football for Norwich City yet arguably our most influential midfielder is not to represent the Club due to personal matters.

It is almost as if they feel that they are doing everybody a favour by actually playing.

For most of us work HAS to come first and it is generally a given that the job comes before anything other than the most serious personal matter that cannot be avoided.

Clearly Fer considered that his wedding, which probably could have been arranged for another time other than at the cusp of the football season, was far more important than affairs NCFC. Such self-elitism knows no bounds ... "It's just my job after all."

It's taking the p-ss, IMO.

Mr. Angry of Broadstairs.

Agree with this, he knew it was a World Cup year and had been involved with Holland all season (so must have known he was in with a shout),and could quite easily have planned his wedding and honeymoon to coincide with the extra time he was possibly having off - unless it was a communication issue with the club.

Ruddy offered to cancel his wedding to play a friendly against Belgium before Euro 2012, but was instead given the nod to have a single day off from England duty to get hitched.

I also feel that the Fer arrangement is strange.

I suspect that the agreement was you can return to training on 3rd August having been in Brazil until 13th July.   Look at that he has had 3 weeks holiday and then back to training - one of those weeks off was for his honeymore.

Most of the other players had nearly 7 weeks break.        Put that way his time off is not a problem for me,   all players need some rest and recuperation time.

Yeah I have absolutely no problem with us giving Fer a little extra time, as mentioned above...a lot of players get over double what Fer got and everyone needs time to get away from football and just relax a little bit. Also he may have been training with the Dutch team in Brazil, but he didn't exactly get a lot of game time. Also we can't forget that he missed the best part of 14 days in Brazil with a hamstring injury which was why he wasn't even in the squad towards the end of the tournament, so he actually was unable to train for a big portion of the World Cup.

You give him the first weekend off to really pump up and build up fitness and then you get him back for the two games in 4 days. Makes a lot of sense to me and I don't really see it as preferential treatment.

Just setting off to the game by a combination of car and then train to try and avoid problems with Sunday engineering works. Feeling pumped and its still 8 hours to kick off! COYY!

Fer having time off doesn't bother me. If I was getting married I could take time off my job to do it.

I'm currently in turkey, catching a domestic flight to Istanbul but found a bar there showing the game so with a bit of luck should make kick off. Just checking the game is definitely going ahead as iv seen the news reports about the storm/flooding etc. Nothing concerning on any news sites but just thought I'd check.... Any info gratefully received. Cheers

As far as I'm aware the weather isn't too bad, there will be some rain about as there is in Norwich today, but nothing that should affect the game. Good job finding a bar showing it while travelling in Turkey. 10/10 for effort!
