Up the league table. 

We are in 8th place on the front page of Google for "Norwich City Forum" as of today, last night we were 10th, the day before that top of second page, and a week ago were bottom of the 3rd page.

We've just leapfrogged our first recognised Norwich City forum, CarrowRoad.net. The next one to climb above is norwichcity-mad.co.uk, who are in 6th. 

The target position for that phrase is 2nd, after the Pink'un.

Are you logged into your Google account? Google personalises searches based on your previous search history, if you log out of your Google account it will show a different position.

For me it is 8th logged out, 5th logged in.

Well all I can do is build it, and do the SEO, and hope that people continue to contribute. All in the hands of the members really, this place is here to stay irrespective, and I'll always be building....

Admin, you've mentioned costs before and I'd be prepared to stand you the cost of a pint per month as I'm sure would many others - voluntary basis, mind - if the site's growth means more capacity means more data means more cost.

Really appreciate the sentiment / offer, but I'm really hoping to avoid ever putting a paypal donate button on the forum. It is true that forums are notoriously difficult to 'monetize', and that Invision is far from the cheapest option out there, but that would be the last resort. I'm fairly confident that I can make this place self-sufficient in terms of month-to-month running costs.  

Perhaps the exception is if there was the opportunity in the future to introduce something new to the site with third party code which is fairly expensive but people would really value, could try and fundraise a few quid here and there for a major site enhancement. 

I do have an alternative planned for people who want to do a bit here and there to help, rather than sticking a donate button somewhere. In the new links directory will be a category titled 'affiliates', and within that will be links to various popular websites which are used frequently by many. 

For example, I could sign up as a Just Eat affiliate. If members could just remember to visit that page and click through the link before ordering a takeaway from Just Eat, that click would give NorwichTalk 3% of the order value (existing account) or 6% of order value if a new account. Amazon.co.uk too, if people could just remember to click through our link to Amazon before purchasing their latest copy of Football Manager, etc. 

They can feed a few coins into the meter that way without spending any more than they already would have

Hi there. I've just joined this forum after getting sick of how annoying to work on a mobile the pinkun forum is, and hearing mentions of another up and coming forum. This was the first I looked at, and decided to sign up with because I saw so many of the pinkun posters that seemed to have gone missing recently!

Just a quick mention about your Google rankings (I'm an SEO engineer). What others have said about logging out of your Google account to get a more realistic ranking is correct, but to get an even more realistic ranking, open a new browser tab or window in "incognito" mode (in chrome that is - other browsers have similar names for it), and then run a search for your chosen keyword. However, sometimes even the fact you're on your home WiFi can make a difference. Check it on your phone's 3g connection (also in an incognito window) and you may even get another different ranking again. And then you may get another again if you're using the WiFi in a coffee shop. Google is annoying like that!
