Yeah, the good news is whoever takes over has to wait until Christmas before they can bring anyone in. People have said that there isn’t any lack of effort from the players, it’s just that they aren’t good enough, any new manager will hopefully struggle.

I guess whoever goes there is still going to have the same squad until the January window opens, and even then it's pretty unlikely they're going to spend anything of relevance, so maybe there is little to worry about, though you know Lambert will have them motivated for this game more than any other game

I have my doubts that the key to Lambert performing is the guy who was recently managing Grantham Town...

After back to back promotions in 2011 Lambert was asked how did he do it and he simply replied "good players" looking back there's probably a lot more truth to that statement than I realised.

Cameron Jerome decided that it wasn't worth losing our respect for, and he's got about 3 years left of his career and will probably end up being owed money in Turkey.

Lambert signed a 2.5 year contract with Stoke so is presumably still being paid a salary from them unless they paid him in a lump sum with their parachute payments, he got a pay off from Wolves, and was paid a years salary to leave Villa.

I get that he's probably short on opportunities and may be itching to get back, but he's definitely not short of cash... or shouldn't be.... not enough to need the type of salary that Marcus Evans is going to give him.

But he is, annoyingly, probably exactly the type of manager who would get the best out of Ipswich's assorted collection of League One players and misfits by telling them that they are terrific every day apart from an unlucky few who he'll send to train with the Under 18's and blame for the clubs predicament as a short term convenient deflection of anger and to buy him some patience, like he did at Villa and Stoke, he'll pinpoint a few people who he blames for creating a toxic atmosphere in the dressing room, and they will just so happen to be the same few that Marcus Evans would love to get off the wage bill in January.

Marcus Evans will probably appoint him with a £1m bonus if he keeps them up or something.... seems to be perceived as his specialism now, keeping shit teams in the Championship in return for a nice bounty.

Sorry but I would blame the bloke for being a mercenary and a charlatan if he thought so little of the best three years of his managerial career that he was prepared to manage Ipswich to make a few quid from a spiv.

I'd just be wishing him complete failure if he joins them to be honest, and failure there would be the end of his career.
