Culverhouse has just stepped down from his job at Grantham.....

See.... I'd find it more difficult to be angry at Ian Culverhouse for accepting the job, despite his status as an on-field legend.

He has only had the one pay off in his coaching career and has just spent 4 years in non-league probably earning £500 a week.

Obviously you couldn't blame him going to Ipswich for £100k a year or whatever they'd give him.... the blokes probably worrying about getting his car through its MOT like the rest of us.

But Lambert is likely to be absolutely fucking minted by now.

Imagine Lambert winning the next derby day against us.... we need to avoid defeat in that that one to make it 10 years I believe.

Just one more draw against Ipswich and it has been a full decade. I want to vomit.

It’s not about the money though, most managers could retire after a couple of jobs if they wanted, it’s about proving that they can do a good job and be successful.

Whatever his reasons, it will still make me think he's a bit of a wanker and I'll take him off my legend list.... and if Farke beats his team this season I'll do a huge fist pump like the one Lambert directed towards the directors box when Villa beat us just after he left.

Nothing would give me more pleasure in Lambert being the one who takes Ipswich down. I already really want Ipswich to suffer the humiliation of relegation after their ridiculous countdown clock in 2008, and Lambert suffering the lowest point of his career in the process would be a nice little bonus. Hopefully with us completely outclassing them at Carrow Road on the way.

Farkelife!

He might not even take the job. I should imagine he would want assurances from Marcus, that he has money to spend.

Cameron Jerome decided that it wasn't worth losing our respect for, and he's got about 3 years left of his career and will probably end up being owed money in Turkey.
He had a club/contract so it was easy to say.

Imagine if he had no club at all and Ipswich was the only offer on the table.

Well to make the example relevant I'd have to imagine Cameron Jerome not having a club for 5 months after being paid 2 years salary in a lump sum, and imagine that he has up to about 20 years left of his career like Lambert (20 years younger than Arsene Wenger) instead of perhaps 2 years. .

You are making it sound like Lambert's on the breadline and having to sit in front of a Job Centre work coach, he's probably worth about £30m by now, he had a brand new Maserati when we were in League One and has taken a big wedge from each of Doug Ellis, Peter Coates and Fosun International in the past 4 years...

His bonus for keeping us in the Premier League in 2011/12 was £2m alone, we know that because he sued us for it.

.... Are you saying that he couldn't wait a few months for an alternative opportunity? It sounds like he turned down his boyhood team St Mirren earlier in the season who he played 230 games for so lets not kid ourselves.... he just wants a big fat dirty wedge from Marcus Evans and it has nothing to do with his love for the sport or desperation for an opportunity. He's a mercenary just out to line his pockets.... win/win for Lambert at all these jobs he is taking.... big bonus for staying up or big pay off for failing.... that was his Stoke deal (£1m bonus for staying up, 2 year pay off for getting relegated),that will be similar to his Ipswich deal too.

I hope he lines his pockets with an Evans pay-off after relegating them. Obviously. That would be money well earned.

As far as I can see I have two options.... I can wish him well, or I can wish that he fails, and I'm a Norwich fan so the choice is easy.

You'll still find the answer is that he's signing for Ipswich.

Yes and I hope he fails miserably and dooms Ipswich to a long spell in League One, and renders himself unemployable in this country in the process. Perhaps then he'll take the St Mirren job, but probably won't because he's far too rich to want to stand out in the cold for £50k a year.

Oh you mean Jerome.

Well OK he signs for Ipswich, but its still an irrelevant comparison because management doesn't have a limited timespan like a playing career for a 32 year old player who relies on a turn of pace.... and Ipswich wasn't Lambert's only job offer this season, and wouldn't be the last if he turned it down.

Besides, Nottingham Forest and a few other clubs wanted Jerome anyway and I doubt Ipswich was the best domestic offer on the table.

It was only newsworthy because he politely explained his reasons for rejecting Ipswich to the club and the media got wind of it. Just makes him a pleasant person.

Lambert clearly doesn't value the high esteem he is held in my Norwich fans. That's the point, a valid one.

He did absolutely amazing for us. He doesn't owe us anything.

Apart from the money there is also the love of the game. He's got an opportunity to keep doing what he loves so I get it.

Interesting that betting hasn't been suspended yet, usually when it is as certain as this betting is suspended by now, suggests that maybe things aren't quite there yet

Spoke too soon!

To be honest, I'm going to be completely immature about this and take the approach that if Lambert goes to the scum then he is automatically a dirty Judas prick. He will be so fired up as well to be the man to end Ipswich's embarrassment and finally get a win over us. It's a good job we are literally miles ahead of them in terms of the quality of our players or I'd almost be worried. It is such a shame though because I felt so much love for that man at one time, but he did sort of burn his bridges when he threw his toys out the pram and resigned after Villa's approach.

If you look at it though from their perspective, they've just hired a manager who has failed everywhere he's been since leaving us 6 years ago, lasting 6 months or less at his last 3 jobs, and is responsible for kicking off their rivals decade of dominance against them with the 9-2 aggregate score in our Championship promotion season. Hired after they abandoned their 'new era' after 13 games because they were so dire. Absolutely embarrassing :D

Just imagine if he relegates them though. Part of me actually wanted Hurst to just about keep them afloat because it's almost funnier that they stay in the Championship for yet another season than go down and have the chance to rebuild like we did. But if Lambert relegates them that would be absolutely spectacular.

Could do with another of our exes doing us a favour this weekend, with Alex Neil's Preston playing the scum in a relegation 6 pointer.

Me too, that's the Norwich way.

I'm dreading the bit where he's asked about the reaction of Norwich fans in his first press conference.

It sort of feels like your first love later hooking up with that bloke from school that you always hated, lets call him Mr. Twat.

You've had several girlfriends since, and you've done much better than Mr. Twat over the past 10 years of your life... reaching a level higher in your career and having a lot more money.... and your current girlfriend is younger and a little bit better looking, but it still hurts deep down because you never forget your first love and never quite feel love like it again.

And even though you wouldn't have traded in your current partner for your first love, you still feel a sense of betrayal that she's gone with Mr. Twat because she knew how much of a twat Mr. Twat was and how much you considered Mr. Twat to be a twat.

You harbour a secret desire to see the relationship turn sour, you definitely don't 'like' their relationship status on facebook.

It makes you view your first love a bit differently, was she always actually a twat too, or has changed over the years and become a bit more of a twat herself, because there is no other logical reason why she'd fall for Mr. Twat. You are 100% certain that Mr. Twat was always far too much of a twat to ever successfully untwat himself.

That's how I will feel seeing Lambert in his Ipswich tracksuit for the first time.

For the avoidance of any doubt.... Lambert is the first love, and Ipswich Town is the twat that you always hated.

Lambert never had loyalty towards us despite the fact he was fantastic for us, so no reason we should show anything back.

Therefore hes a scum manager and I hope they have such a dull and boring time that Ipswich fans have to suffer a second manager of theirs giving themselves the finger at Carrow Road.
