Rumour has it that he'll be named manager within 48 hours says  Pat Murphy BBC. Might be just the man to shake up the squad. He seems to be good at first then useless later judging by past appointments. Not sure about this either way. At least he's a 'name' within the game rather than a Radio Norfolk pundit or little known Scott.

Many will not want Pardew I guess, but right now he is my number one choice. No more internal promotions or unknown rookies, we need a man in who knows the game, had his ups & downs and has contacts, Pardew has real passion will shake them up big time!

I think image is important here, and we need a manager that the players will respect, based on what he has done before. I think the Norwich players were probably respectful of Alex while he had his "young up and coming manager" status, but as soon as we started losing they lost respect quickly, along with confidence in him to turn things around.

Agreed. We made the mistake (easy in hindsight I know, and I know we were constrained by budgets and contracts) of maybe not clearing out a few more players after we were relegated.

Selling Dwight Gayle to Newcastle is a bit of a black mark on his recent record though isn't it.

I mean, its hardly a mistake of Roy Keane proportions when he sold Jordan Rhodes for a few hundred grand, but they have given match time to Fraizer Campbell this season  :blink:

I saw a remark by an ex canary player today, can't remember who. Had him as manager at Reading. Rates him. Says he has something special, a sort of arrogance. Might be just what this squad needs. At the very least he's got plenty of experience at Champ and even Prem level.

Yes, he surely would be a more attractive proposition from a prospective players point of view than an unknown nobody who has done nothing in the game. You have to wonder how many of  the 'signings' we failed to get over the line were in part due to this.

Ed Balls currently dismissing new manager speculation as 'complete garbarge' so we shall see...

He managed to attract Benteke to Palace so there must be something in that. Although them being a London club probably helps.

Warburton or Grayson would be my choices if Pardew is too expensive. 

Not sold on Rowett, we'd essentially be giving him a job based on a very short period of success. Just like we did Alex Neil.

Salary not an issue according to ssn, I guess that's the result of having an 8 year contract with Newcastle ?

Not in the running according to BBC now. Although it was the BBC who first said he was of course. I would love it to be someone with his experience and track record of promotion etc. I don't think now is the time for a left field wtf moment with only one more year of parachute money left to be trusted to the new man.

I can't see them naming anyone until they announce this new structure within the club, where they seem to have informed the players but not the fans - WHY?
