I'm sure, giving time and the realisation that this site is here to stay, other posters elsewhere will slowly come to accept the status quo as it is now.

However, some of us will never return to the PU no matter how 'state of the art' it becomes....that's just a fact with no malice attached to it.

I have just spent a frustrating 10 minutes or so crawling round the Pinkun website, and I mean crawling, with long delays. So I gave up and came to this site. What a difference in navigating .

Credit to the site designer and the webmaster. It's a real pleasure to be able to move through pages in such a smooth way. Well done, lads!

It will be interesting to see what the new Pinkun looks like when they update it. I may be biased, but I can't see it being better than this.

They don't really need to offer anything too special, just compatibility with modern browsers.  

I do hope that this place doesn't die when they launch it, genuinely believe that a club the size of ours should have a couple of decent forums (like other clubs our size).

If they are going to upgrade though, they should go the whole hog.

The look of the place hasn't changed since 2003, it looks extremely dated.

I have no reason to see why this place should die, it offers something different to the pinkun, which judging by the feedback, people like.

Can't really take any credit for that, its a combination of the quality of the software + the suitability of the hosting. Glad you enjoy using the site though!

I wouldn't worry about this place dying mate. You only need to look how much this site has grown in the last month or so to realise how popular it is.

it's not just about functionality though.  If this site had the functionality of the PinkUn and vice versa, I'd still be here because you don't have the spite, aggression and anger of the PinkUn.

No amount of makeup can make Jordan into a lady and no amount of functional upgrade can make PinkUn into a companionable, kind, thoughtful and interesting place to discuss matters City.

Different kinds of changes are required and I doubt if the PinkUn has the stomach for the hard decisions and actions that real change will need.

Dead right Boyerboy. This site has gained many posters from the Pink'un, but many have also come from Not606. I still post on the latter as RiverEndRick, but rarely now on the Pink'un (as 'Yelloow Since 72'). The biggest advantage this site has is the genuine discussion without all the petty slagging off and name calling. For that reason alone it will continue to thrive.

I was a very active poster on the Pink'un for several years, but as the feuds were allowed to develop the posters I most enjoyed interacting with started to drift away one by one, so I just gave up posting. When I heard about this site I was sceptical but given that I knew several of the people involved personally I gave it a go and have to say that, so far, its been a delight. It would certainly take much more than improved functionality to get me back to the Pink'un, despite my Archant connections.

I've merged the Norwich Talk thread with this one, as it was going along the same lines (e.g. really like NorwichTalk, Pink'un getting a new forum etc), and unlocked this one. 

Wouldn't want anybody on the Pink'un to start a thread saying that all we do is moan about the Pink'un like last time!

Really glad that people are enjoying this forum though, here's hoping that we can keep attracting new members.

I used to post on pinkun years ago but got pissed off with the opinionated knobs on there.

I still have a look tho.Also on Not606 which is very good.

I really think this site has nothing to worry about, even if the functionality issue is addressed "across the road".

Why do I say this? Well, having posted for a first time in ages on a non PUP's thread, two quoted responses appeared, neither topic related. The irony was one came from the author of the "that other place" thread.

Notwithstanding this, when I questioned both of the replies, one was defended on the grounds of "humour". Frankly, it was neither remotely funny or relevant to the thread. (In fact, over 50% of the replies on the whole were off topic).

The thread was pulled shortly thereafter.

Therefore, unless the administers are going to strictly enforce a "relevance" regime to all postings, threads are going to continue to be derailed.

Frankly, I want somewhere where discussions remain "on topic" for the majority of postings. Sure, humour has its place in certain instances, but it's bordering on out of control there. That may suit some, but not me

For the moment I'm posting on both quite happily.

The pinkun MB had improved a bit I think partly because people are aware of a very obvious alternative.

But I've noticed quite a few snide digs there at "the other site" which are a bit sad really. I mean there were already quite a few other city MBs so why get hung up about it?

Also Waveney has IMO got at least one new profile running on the pinkun which is definitely a bad thing.
