Player of the Season?

Obviously there aren't many contenders. A few stand out as being better than the others but I don't think anyone has really had a fantastic season.

My vote personally would be Robbie Brady. Howson 2nd, Tettey 3rd. Though any of Hoolahan/Redmond/O'Neil might get into the 3 in the actual poll.

Howson for me head and shoulders above the rest, Brady second, but a couple of others had they been here all season would be contenders or had they been in the team more. Klose for example would have probably walked it, and O'Neil has been excellent since Tettey has been out..

For me there is no outstanding candidate - no player has been consistently  good enough to warrant a name on the BB trophy - a low bar to win this year.  

Brady has gone of the boil to the extent he was anonymous on sat (linked to being moved forward imo),  but his best at the start of the season was better than anyone has contributed since - its just in the distant past.   That wes, at his age, with his inconsistency,  his lack of 90 mins and regular drops is a candidate speaks volumes. 

Had Klose stayed fit I suspect he would have been the deserving winner.

I think the last 3 games will probably dictate it. If Howson keeps up his recent form and Brady his, I think Howson would probably edge it.

I think we should give it to Gary O'Neil for the iconic use of a Terry Butcher style headband, and actually he is the player who epitomises our season and our squad if we don't stay up. Never gave up, but simply not quite good enough.

I'd put Brady above Redmond this season because he has been a bit more consistent, Redmond had a period of being utter sh*te about halfway through the season.

I know that you think Alex Neil hasn't utilised Redmond correctly this year, and you may be right about that, but can't escape the fact that for a period this season Redmond just went completely missing. It felt like his mind was elsewhere, and it probably was because I should imagine there is a big queue of clubs hoping to snag him on the cheap this summer.

To be fair, Brady's been shite since January. Never understood the thing about Redmond being supposedly more inconsistent than anyone else. Nobody in our squad was consistent, bar Russell Martin and Ryan Bennett who are consistently *bleep* awful.

Fair point and I kind of expected it regarding Brady at left back. I really can't be arsed but if someone wants to find out how many games Brady played left wing that'd be handy.

But, as Splutcho points out, Brady has had his fair share of being shite. Left back or left wing.

I don't know how many he played left wing, but ESPN shows that Olsson started 20 games in the league. So the other 18 we started with a different player at left back. 

I can't remember us playing anybody other than Brady at left back. He played one game at right back too. 

So I think Brady could have started just 15 of his 34 games on the left wing?

To be fair it's easier to notice with Redmond when he's not on his game, because when he is on it he is probably our most talented player. Maybe Neil could've used him a bit better at times but he did go through a truly terrible spell between about October and February where he deservedly wasn't in the team.

Brady was exceptional in the first half of the season. Our best player by a country mile. Olsson only really broke back into the team properly in the second half of the season and Brady was only then pushed further forwards. I wouldn't say he's been sh*te second half, certainly no worse than the vast majority of our squad, I just think because he was so good in the first half his 'poor' form has been more obvious than most. Brady hasn't been any worse in the second half of the season than Howson was in the first.

I do not believe that any of our players are lazy. Very few footballers are lazy. The great Steve Morison wasn't lazy.
