Poem Threads.

What is it with the poems on here. How many people open up a thread, realise its a poem and quickly press the back button. Its a football discussion not a bloody poetry club. Isnt clever and isnt funny just boring.

rbf has said that he only writes in poetry, and beneath each thread title it says who started the thread.  So the simple answer if you don't like them is to not open any threads started by rbf. If you do that then you won't have to read any poetry, and won't miss any non-poetry. Personally I can't see the problem with them.

I certainly don´t write them in that way just to be clever, I happen to get great enjoyment from writing that way, and have done for years now, and if others can also get pleasure and enjoyment from reading them, then great. I don´t expect to please everyone, or even less than everyone, but as CanaryBoy pointed out, if you´re one of the ´less than pleased´  brigade, ignore them.

But personally, ´how´ we get our point across, seems far less important than whether or not we get it across.

One other thing too CJRV, as you say, this is a football discussion board, but just because I write in verse, doesn´t automatically need to prevent people discussing the content, as in every single case, and I´ve written literally thousands, football is the subject.

I'd prefer to see the word "poem" in the title of those threads to save me opening them, but don't object to creative types throwing them up at all

I could create a 'poem' prefix for rbf to use if that helps everybody, (just like a poll has a 'poll' prefix).

Wouldn't it be simpler to have just one poem thread which rbf can add to anytime he wishes? Each new poem would take the thread back to the top of the page so his followers would know something new had been added and the rest could ignore it.

Poetic justice it has to be said.

Writing poems is not a crime

In fact it can be sublime

On the subject of Norwich City

A lot can be said in a little ditty

So don't attack a harmless poet

We're all poets, we just don't know it.

0-4, 1-2, what can we do

Is Adams in the poo?

You see, poems are harmless enough

Even if the football's duff

So if you just don't like a verse

Don't shout or mock or give a curse

Maybe poets are addicted

Or maybe one should say afflicted

You'll be getting fed up with this

And I bet you'll take the p*ss

So all that's left to be said

Is OTBC and off to bed.

Help, I can't stop writing verse

Don't think there should be a special poem highlight within the header, otherwise some posts would just get over looked

I normally find CJRV's posts worth reading but I don't understand this one. If you don't like poems, then don't read them. Personally, as long as they raise interesting points about our club, which they always have done, I think they're fine. I also enjoyed those by LDC and Watling. If you don't like them, don't read them.
