Poor opposition

The last three games have been, mostly, very good for us but I have constantly heard how bad the opposition have been.

We beat Blackpool and the complaint was that it was only bottom of the table Blackpool.

We beat Charlton, having done our best to scupper it, and the talk was of what a poor run they had been on.

We beat wolves today and, fair enough most of the talk was positive, but it was said once again that the opposition were poor.

Now, I agree that the opposition has looked ordinary but maybe a bit of credit should be given to AN and the team for limiting them and making them look so ordinary. I think the higher pressing game gives them less chance and having the three back in the middle really allow us to control the pitch.

All in I think it is looking really positive.

Also, It looks like AN might be the first manager since Lambert to actually know how to play Howson to get the best out of him. He is not a holding midfielder and if played correctly he could be absolutely key for us - genuine quality.

Yes, today was a good performance and an excellent result when it counted. I also agree that in all three games we limited the opposition through a fully committed pressing game but things will get very tough in these last 15 games. Watford will tell us more.

When there were all the Canary Callers saying that Blackpool were poor I was going to reply and pose a question. In the end I couldnt be arsed but I think it's a good question.

After Man Utd beat Cambridge 3-0 did Van Gaal drag the team into the dressing room and lambast them for only winning by three or did he congratulate them on efficiently dealing with the job to be done? Of course, I don't know but I can guess.

It's a cliche that you can only beat the opposition you have but I do think that any Premier team playing our last three opponents and getting the scores we got would be satisfied.

Of course fans want to win every game. 6-0 but I suspect managers are more realistic and recognise that any game can be lost so there is credit in every game that is won.

Blackpool were shockingly poor - but wolves were a decent side who were bossed out of it but a team coming to terms with a news system of play and using it to their benefit.       Charlton were somewhere between who seized on our over confidence to make us sweat.

Today was very encouraging - and three clean sheets in 4 also a plus.    Hopefully the back 4 can also take some confidence from a consistent selection in the middle having proven today that facing pace alone is not something to be scared of. 

Now for watford and to try for a season best 4 wins on the bounce.    Or at least move to beating our early season 8 game unbeaten run.

Wolves were by no means poor. We comfortably outplayed them in the end but that was more of a case of us being very good. Wolves had a spell at the start of the second half when we were 1-0 up when they were actually the better side, but the second goal ultimately put them to bed. They were by no means at their best but they weren't exactly bad.

You can only beat what's in front of you anyway, if we continue to do that then I don't care how poor the opposition are anyway.

Anyone who is trying to brand them poor has some kind of agenda, I'm afraid.

You'll always get this from some quarters but it's a facile argument. In virtually every case the winning side will look better than their opponents because( to state the bleedin' obvious!) they're the winning side. We made an in form Wolves look ordinary because we choked off their supply to their potential match winners and constantly harried their midfield and defenders. Let's enjoy it!

Indeed. I think it's fairly clear now that their is a top 8* who will fight it out for the 3 promotion places. Wolves are one of them.

*Maybe only Blackburn could squeeze someone out of that current 8.

Another team that had been playing well and free scoring made to look bang average, there is a trend developing!
