I'm fairly convinced that we expected somebody to leave before the deadline closed and that whoever we intended to sign was contingent on that deal going through, probably Naismith or Brady?
Yeah you're probably not far wrong there.

How much money has Alex Neil actually wasted though eatonparkboy.

If anything he has been hindered by money wasted by Neil Adams and Chris Hughton, and players stuck on the payroll from their tenures. He didn't hand Michael Turner his contract for example, and Van Wolfswinkel and Kyle Laffferty were not his signings. Neither was Becchio who he released. Neither was Vadis.

I suppose the jury is still out on Matt Jarvis, Youssef Mulumbu, and we certainly overpaid for Steven Naismith. But Klose, Brady and Pinto are clearly good players, and we've not even seen Pritchard and Oliviera kick a ball yet.
I would like to see a bit more (which will be difficult without streams and just listening to Canaryworld which is only subjective) of the three you mentioned, at this level. Too many good players have floundered in the Championship because of attitude. Ability is the cream after the fitness, hard work and correct attitude have been applied. And if the manager's tactics aren't right either then you could have an expensive mistake.

I am hoping now they are staying that will lead by example but they haven't really set the pulses racing this season for me yet.

Whittaker has already done a perfectly good job of showing us how much us fans should value Ivo Pinto  ;)

Given another year's contract with an option of another. Valued by the manager obviously. But the rest of us would agree with you there.

AN had no choice in the whittaker or turner contract extensions,. They were part of deals negotiated before he joined that we were obliged to honour, and would have been another reason why it was difficult to churn, move them on against their financial wishes

Funny how people who are on benefits and won't work are classified as scroungers and stealing money from the public yet do footballers wonder where the income in football comes from and find it necessary to do a Lafferty and sit just because of the wages.

The scenarios are not even in the slightest bit similar? One is being paid out of tax revenues, the other is being paid by a private company. One isn't in employment, another is?

The footballer is the one paying tax to fund the other. And the footballer and the football club have a legally binding contract?

It is bizarre that some people want to protest. I think there's an impatient minority who'd have liked the season to be over after the opening day win. That poor Brum loss rattled them and the two weeks of stewing has turned them toxic. If we'd landed players like Naismith, Klose and Brady last time we were in the Championship those same fans would have been deliriously excited. Sure, keeping what you have isn't as exciting as getting something new but as Leicester showed us, true satisfaction and success is built over the course of a season rather than bought over the course of a month.

You've already posted the exact same thing word-for-word, and the comparison is still stupid.

We don't even know if the club was prepared to let him go? Unless I'm missing something nobody at the club has said that we've accepted any offers. More likely that he'd have been allowed to leave if we'd managed to bring in a replacement, which we didn't.

And yes he did get paid for sitting on his bum and watching a game of football today, but he did still get out of bed to turn up to work. I don't think we'd get very far if we started signing players on zero hour contracts and only paid them when they featured in a competitive game, Blackpool tried that and it didn't go very well for them.

Something went wrong there. I meant to reply to Canaryboy that the examples are almost similar except that so called dole bludgers don't pat direct tax. But there again neither does Rooney.

But who do you think provides the income in

Don't call me stupid you fool. Just because I don't agree with you believe you are the all seeing NCFC experts. No wonder I left Norfolk. I thought the Pink Un was exclusive but you aren't prepared to debate anything you don't agree with.

In relation to Turner, your comment is spot on as is previous contract - due to expire in 2016 - was renegioted in 2014, with an automatic additional year if we got promoted in 2015. However, this was not so with Whittaker, as his contract expired in 2016 and was given a new one year contract.

I didn't call you stupid, I said that your comparison was stupid (maybe 'silly' is a gentler word, noted).

I don't mind you calling me a fool, because my skin is thicker than yours. (I don't live in Norfolk by the way).

Lafferty has to get himself up out of bed and present himself at Colney 4 or 5 times a week. Just like anybody else with a job has to get themselves out of bed and turn up for work.

The bloke is clearly a loose cannon and has issues with professionalism, but its a bit much comparing him with somebody who is claiming unemployment benefits with no intention of getting off of the sofa. Seems to me like he's pretty keen to leave to play football, and any assertion which suggests otherwise seems completely unfounded.

He isn't doing nothing for his money, he was deemed sufficiently prepared to sit on the bench today ahead of Carlton Morris.

This is me debating your point, what exactly are the comparisons to be drawn between Kyle Lafferty and a workshy Jeremy Kyle style layabout? I just don't get it.

Are you implying that we are paying them too much? Lol, thats something I have never heard levelled at our club!
That's what I'm saying, in comparison to many other clubs in the Championship, but, not so, necessarily in the Premier League ?

What the hell is going on at the minute. Just had a look at the Pink'un (a rare occurrence).

Plus a few things said on here. Why are Norwich fans so unhappy?

We're already 5th, we got the exact same result today that we did last time we played Cardiff at home in this division (3-2). Cameron Jerome is scoring goals, we've got a couple of good new players to come back into the side, and people need to remember that a few players who are liabilities in the league above are actually decent players at this level (Bassong, Martin and Ruddy for example?).

Why the pessimism? I think we're in an alright place, we've only lost two quality players, the Murphy's are having their breakthrough season. What's the problem?

If things haven't quite clicked yet but we're still putting 3 past decent teams then that surely has to be a good sign.

Eaton, I do think the comparison to benefit scroungers is a bit misplaced. If a player has a contract, keeps his side of the contract up and wants to play why should he leave? I wouldn't, so why should they? If I were lafferty I'd probably be royally hacked off and the last thing I'd do is take a pay cut to suit the guy who's treated me so badly.

if they breach their contract or otherwise refuse to perform its a different matter but is that the allegation being levelled here?

I haven't missed anything about Lafferty have I?

Has it been in the news that he rejected an offer from somewhere because it didn't pay enough? Or we've refused to subsidise his wages at another club or something?

Because my assumption was that the reason he is here and didn't leave is because we didn't manage to sign a striker. There were several clubs linked to Lafferty and he stated earlier in the summer that he expected to leave the club, so my perception is that Lafferty is here because the club need him here?

I don't think the club neither the player has done much wrong really. Lafferty a bit unprofessional on twitter I guess, but in terms of his continued employment it just feels as if one of the two parties bound by the contract has decided that they don't want to agree to that contract being terminated, and it is probably the club rather than the player?

If we had signed a striker I doubt a disparity in pay would have been a huge problem, I doubt that Dundee and Aberdeen are paying the wages of Andreu or Maddision in full.

At least it makes a refreshing change for a reserve striker to become the fans pariah / scapegoat for a change, rather than the answer to all of our prayers like Becchio

it has been said that we couldn't get a new striker in because the club needed to sell players to fund it and that didnt happen.

The money which was going to pay for striker got spent on Pritchard and the assumption was that fringe players would be sold to fund the striker.

it feels like we assumed we would sell brady to enable us to buy both pritchard and a striker;  that didnt happen so naismith was next on the sale board; Until two strikers arrived we were never going to let lafferty leave.

it was a calculated gamble that back fired., and a classic example of why any attempt to assume make an Ass out of U & Me.

I think pretty much everyone assumed Brady would go, especially on the back of a good tournament.
