Questionable futures

There are some players who seem to be for the door- these include Turner, Becchio, Garrido, Miguel, Cuellar, Lafferty, They would seem to be likely to struggle in the Premiership and in the absence of injuries are unlikely to even make the bench.

There are some who have performed reasonably well, but have been not entirely convincing at least to some fans this, and have question marks against them when up against Premiership players. I would include Whittaker, Martin and Hooper, plus possibly Elliott Bennett. They may be retained as deputies to other players and new signings, but I would be doubtful about a long term future if we stay in the Premiership.I assume that Vadis will stay, and possibly O'Neill

The young players may see some leaving, but the two Murphy brothers, Morris and Loza, plus Thompson, who is yet to play for us will stay, although may be sent out on loan for regular football. Mcgrandles and a few others seem safe, but there seem to be some very good younger players who will press them.

RvW and Andreu I wouldn't like to predict. The former may find a place in the rapid passing we saw on Monday, although his French club seem interested in signing him, probably at a low price. Andreu will struggle to get into the midfield, arguably the strongest part of our team at the moment, but Neil probably has plans for him and certainly knows more than we do. Despite our abundance of midfielders, and unless Albion ask a very large sum, I expect us to sign Dorrans.

I think we should keep all three of Whittaker, Martin, and Hooper for at least one more season. I would like to see us sign a right back if there is anybody who would genuinely improve our team in that position though, its a shame Swansea grabbed Kyle Naughton really. 

Elliott Bennett is a tough one, I'd probably keep him for one more year too if we can squeeze him into the 25. He seems like a great guy to have around and is versatile so may come in handy.

I'd go for 5 players, same as what you've said but with another winger. Assuming that Dorrans is already wrapped up.

That leaves us needing to dispose of 10 players over the age of 21.

Putting my Tin Hat on for a minute, I actually think that Neils system might suit RvW. He's never going to be a workhorse like Jerome has been, but RvW's biggest problem last season was that he couldnt get involved, having that much highlighted stat of having the least touches ever for a PL player, or whatever it was. 

We all know that the strikers in Hughtons system struggled from being isolated - the only thing that had a slight suggestion of success was Hooper and Elmander.

RvW would have the support he never had before in Neils system, with his players drilled to push forward in numbers when on the attack. i know its flogging a dead horse, but if we cant sell him, it might be worth trialling.

RvW might have more success with conventional wingers and good support from midfield

Van Wolfswinkel to St Etienne = 10. 

So there probably is room for Elliott Bennett and Gary O'Neil in the squad, unless Alex Neil thinks we need more than 5 new players.

Key needs are (in no order) all back four,  holding midfielder, left midfielder and a striker - plus a couple of unexpected improvements

Din do you really think Olsson will leave in the summer? Seemed to burn his bridges with West Brom, and probably just wanted Premier League football, if the issue was money then he's got his pay rise now. All members of the squad who saw wages fall upon relegation will presumably see their wages go back up now?

He's looked a lot more committed and motivated under Alex Neil, I'm fairly sure he'll be sticking around for at least one more season, and West Brom would now be a sideways step? Plus we've got money now so can just pay straight cash for Dorrans.

Well I thought that he might be used as part of the Dorrans deal, as AN seemed very keen to get Dorrans in in January, and was prepared to sacrifice Olsson, and I thought he might do the same this summer. However now we've all but got Dorrans without sending Olsson the other way, I'm confident he'll stay.

Im desperate to see RVW play in Alex Neil's side, no one was ever going to score goals in Chris Hughton's side, I think Holt was top scorer with 7 in Hughton's first season having scored something like 15 the year before that, RVW is no different in that regard, play attacking football get the ball in the box and I'm sure he'll score goals, I think the worst thing Neil could do is let him go without even having a look at him in pre-season, give him a chance to do his thing, if he doesn't fit the system then let him go, but at least give him a shot.

Hughton messed up big time when he signed RVW and Hooper with no idea of how to get the supply to them, and that has seemingly tarnished both their reputations as goal scorers

Also I be a bit surprised if St. Ettiene did sign RVW, he barely featured for them this season, well at least when they were on BTSport, he never seemed to start a game

I confess to being one of those who wanted RVW to succeed way beyond when I should have....BUT, now I really just dont get WHY anyone would want to give him another chance????? Sure this maybe another time when I get it wrong, like I did when Alex Neil was appointed......the only reason why would be money related I feel.

If Alex Neil were to take a look at RVW and decided that he could get him playing well and scoring goals then I'd 100% support him in that. 

I just can't see it happening though, Alex Neil likes grafters up front who chase every ball and hassle defenders. RVW just isn't that type of player, I don't think Hooper is even his cup of tea and he's got a bit more hustle and bustle to his game. 

Shane Long strikes me as the type of 'busy' player that Alex Neil would get along with, pacey and hardworking.

Garrido, Cuellar and Bunn among six to leave Canaries

NORWICH City today confirmed six players are to depart the club. 

Development squad players Kyle Callan-McFadden and Sam Kelly are to leave, while senior players Javier Garrido, Carlos Cuellar and Mark Bunn have also reached the end of their contract terms. 

City can also confirm that striker Luciano Becchio will depart Norwich City after his contract was ended by mutual consent. 

Norwich City Manager Alex Neil said: "It's important to register their efforts and support to the club this year, when at times it was frustrating for them personally that they weren't playing and involved. But they're all good lads and we wish them all the best for the future." 

The club would like to place on record its thanks and appreciation to all our departing players, and wish them well in the next stages of their careers.
