I've seen some nonsense posted on here and thought I should give you an account of what actually happened at the game.
The racial abuse did happen and was directed at Rajiv van La Parra by the bloke in front of me. It started by him shouting "you should be on a jam pot label" - I let this go, firstly because it took a few minutes for it to register and then I wasn't entirely sure that he was being racist, perhaps I had missed a clever play on words or something but it stayed with me like an unpleasant smell. I haven't heard anything like it since the '70s.
A while later, after La Parra had gone done easily, the bloke in front started some monkey chants. I intervened and told him to knock it off, he looked at me and said "but he's a cheat". I replied "if he's a cheat, boo him but stop the racist chants".
At this point someone sitting over by Elliott Bennett's family, who were just across the aisle to us, shouted "are you being racist?" and the bloke went over to them and a bit of a scuffle ensued. The racist bloke fell back and came back to his seat. "I tried to apologise" he said as I called a steward over to deal with him.
It was sickening to witness such a disgraceful racist incident at close quarters. I've never ever seen or heard anything like this before at a game and I'm disgusted that a cretin like this was wearing a City shirt.
One good thing was the support of other City fans around me who also called the stewards over and were just as outraged as me.
After the game the stewards assured me that they had taken & verified his name & address, they also took my details. I will be contacting NCFC tomorrow and am sure that they will deal with the matter appropriately.
