Redmond digs at Adams

Tweeted last night 'well then...'  which later indicating it was his reaction to being left out after being MOTM last Friday (and his mum replied laughing at it). His mum later went on a tweet spree saying Adams mustn't want to win if he's not playing any wide players. The Redmond family clearly thinks very little of Adams as a manager

And apparently only 3 players went over to the fans after the game (not related, just very disappointing).  Very sad to see things unravelling so fast.  I still hope Adams can turn it around, as there's still a lot left to play for.  But every week my belief shrinks further

Playing devil's advocate here, of course Redmond is going to be disappointed at not playing, but really he has to accept that he may be left out for tactical reasons. And with all due respect to his mum, she's hardly going to be unbiased, is she?

I was there, yes there were only a few players who came across to the fans, but I should imagine they were as stunned and ashamed as we were, and probably didn't think they were worthy of pitiful applause from the fans, and just wanted to get off the pitch as soon as possible, just as I wanted to just get out of the ground double quick.

Agree with everything you say Morty. Redmond is obviously going to be disappointed not to play, and his mum is obviously going to be biased.

The fact is that Redmond not starting wasn't the problem today. The team that started were very good on the whole in the first half. It was Adams' inability to change the system correctly once Nottingham Forest changed their formation that was the issue.

Completely agree. Redmond should have been on at 1-1.

I can understand Redders being on the bench, rather than starting. Presumably he could have been a late substitute, and had something of a rest.

What I completely fail to understand, is why neither he nor Hooper came on. How much longer can we persevere with Grabban, and how long must Hooper, with a record of converting chances, to be kept out.  Redders should have come on, to give Forest something to think about, especially when tired towards the end of the game.

Strange decisions!

Tricky one with Grabban.  I am certainly not a fan of him, but i have to admit I thought he did alright yesterday, pulled defenders around the pitch etc.  However, he missed an absolute sitter which I think would've put the game out of reach.  I think there's little doubt Hooper would've buried that free header on the 6 yard line.  Hoops has to be given a chance, he can't exactly be much worse than what we've already got out there

When Forest went 3 at the back, Johnson should have come off for Redders. Can't believe he took off Jerome for Laffs, who has been really ineffective. Switch should have been Redmond for Johno and maybe even Murphy for Grabban.

Couldn't get away tickets so was sat in the Brian Clough stand. So difficult to take when their own fans knew they'd gotten out of jail.

Exactly what I would've done. Lafferty for Jerome makes absolutely no sense at all.

Don't disagree with any of the above, but maybe Nathan Redmond ought to have a bit of a look in a mirror before tweeting stuff like that? The squad is responsible for this mess along with the manager, and he hasn't been scoring or assisting that freely to be uppity!

He should be absolutely terrorising defences week in, week out at this level. He hasn't really done so enough for me.

I agree Redmond should have come on for Johnson. We thought that Jerome had signalled to the bench a couple of minutes earlier so maybe he was carrying an injury. So if it was for that reason makes slightly more sense.

Redmond should have started. He was the only one who played well versus Boro. If the rest of the bozos we had going forward had finished off his countless through balls then he'd have had a few assists to his name. There's far too many passengers emerging in our squad. Real wastes of money like Grabban and Lafferty.

Redmond comes across as being very immature. needs someone to have a strong word both on and off the pitch.

Definitely.   I'd love to see if Huckerby has sat down and had a word with him about both how to be a great winger and all the off-the-pitch stuff that comes with it

I'd have put him on at about 75 minutes. Forest were getting the better of the game and looked like scoring. Puttingn redmond on would have given them something to worry about. We more or less retreated into our shell trying to see out the game. By the time they scored it was too late to change things up.

I just can't understand why no further substitutions were made.  A tiring midfield against an emergent midfield was only ever going to be a hard ask. Redmond could have shaken things up a bit without a doubt.  Early substitutions by Forest demanded a reaction from Adams. We didn't get one. Stubborness?  To nervous to change things?  Whatever, it was disappointing and an unfathomable reaction to a match situation.

Can not argue with that Lakey.

For me it comes down to inexperience. Neil is on a learning curve. It could be argued that he is in too high a league to be learning his craft, but others have succeeded - for instance Gary Monk seems to be doing OK with the Swans. But Neil looks as though he needs to have learned by making his mistakes in a lower league first.

I think he probably looked at the scoreboard and thought that the team that had got the lead could do the job.

Indeed I think that NA was trying to protect a one nil lead. Wrong call in my view but a coherent approach nonetheless. More important was the mistakes at the corner and the inability to prevent the counterattack. Both are basic coaching issues hopefully resolved by the sacking of the first team coach.

Absolute rubbish about Redmond being immature. Well, for his age anyway, he certainly seems very level headed for me.

Absolutely no problem with him being obviously disappointed about not playing. I would be too, if I was in better form than those around me and the only real threat to the opposition.

I'd rather he be pissed off about not playing, than the opposite.

Oh, and re the Huckerby comment..

If Twitter was as it is now - and Huckerby was left out away against Forest despite being in form etc etc - I reckon he'd have done almost identical!

For me that's a big concern about what Adams has been doing - leaving Redmond on the bench at Sheff Weds and Forest.

If you're the opposition you see Redmond is on the bench and the midfield is full of players who aren't going to run past you (with the exception really of Howson) you're probably quite pleased about that.

A midfield of Johnson, O'Neil and Tettey just isn't much of a worry to defend against. Itt is probably the midfield of a manager who doesn't want to get beat - rather than a manager looking to win.

And yeah, for Redmond to go from being MOTM against Bolton to not even getting on the pitch against Forest...slight alarm bells there.
