Refunds for poor performances

I've seen a number of fans on Twitter demanding that refunds should be issued to away fans after last nights debacle. Personally, whilst it would be nice to get the £94 I shelled out on 3 tickets back, I don't expect to get a refund after every rubbish performance and don't think that it would be good for the club for this to be a regular feature.

I've just seen that there's a poll on the Pink'un about this

http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/poll_do_you_think_the_554_norwich_city_fans_who_travelled_to_middlesbrough_should_get_a_refund_1_3834540

What do you think?

I think it is a silly trend, because it isn't even a 'refund' is it, the away team only gets a single digit % of the sale price of the ticket (and nothing if purchased directly from the home side). Never see clubs refunding their home fans.

Rather than this pointless tokenism I'd prefer it if there was a debate about ticket prices as a whole in this country for all games, whether win, lose or draw.

I wouldn't demand a refund.

I would demand proper performances!

Isn't it all part of being a supporter. The bad times make the good even more enjoyable.

I have seen many dross games particularly away over the years following the club, but never once have I thought about asking for a refund...so am with SussexYellow on this.

If I got the money back for every shart away performance I have seen, I would be a very rich man indeed!

No, I don't agree with refunds, especially not in this case, its not like we were beaten by ten goals or something!

In the same way you don't get money back for bad movies or gigs you shouldn't expect refunds on football matches.  It's the shockers you experience that make the big wins all the more satisfactory

To me it's another example of the culture of consumerism that is creeping into "supporting a team".

Supporting your side, whomever it may be, is a choice.  Choosing to travel all the way to Middlesborough on a Tuesday night is commendable, but nobody's making people go.  We go and hand over our money because we want to support the side.  To say after the event "the team I supported were rubbish and therefore I want my money back" demeans the definition of "supporter" in my eyes.

But it's the philosophical point that gets me down.  Football now is product, packaged, polished up and sold off at ridiculous prices.  Even thinking of a refund for a poor performance is acting like a consumer rather than a supporter.  By all means be fed up, swear all the way home, give the cat a boot up the jacksy when you get in if you have to, but don't sell yourself short by asking for your money back.  Seriously, if people don't know by now that following Norwich City is one part joy to four parts wrist-slitting misery, they should pop down to Sports Direct and buy a Chelsea kit.

Hey, perhaps they should start printing those disclaimers on the bottom of each ticket sold, just so we're all clear about what supporting a team is all about:

DISCLAIMER: This ticket does not guarantee a good performance, or even a winning one.  Teams are subject to change without notice; any resemblance to previous players, living or dead, is unintentional and purely coincidental; for external use only; if rash, irritation, redness, or swelling develops, consult a steward.  Smoking this ticket could be hazardous to your health; disclaimer does not cover misuse, accident, lightning, flood, tornado, tsunami, volcanic eruption, earthquake, hurricanes, other Acts of God, or being struck by a wayward Bradley Johnson shot.

Go along with what you are saying Mr.Gnome. Really liked the disclaimer idea......I went up a mountain in a cable car on Monday, after trekking about and taking photographs for an hour, was suddenly in clouds, just like fog..I think that the big G up top, would have sniggered a bit ,if I had kneeled down and asked for my money back
