Difficult to know how wages factor in here, clubs might be paying more for the Mings' and Bradys but I would imagine the wages of Song et al will be a lot higher and a fair burden. I still think we should only be paying top dollar for established Premier League performers (ironically like Mulumbu). I wouldnt be happy with us splurging lots of money on players who havent played in England or this league before - we need to learn our lessons from RvW. I think there are players to be had abroad who would not cost the earth, the two examples being good ones, bonus that both have played in the league already.
Id prefer us to try and pick up players from abroad (perhaps from foreign second tier leagues) for around 2m where we can and gamble - Michu proved it is possible. Most would not come off but would perhaps provide decent back up, and only pay the substantial fees for players we know can perform in this league. If we throw 8m at another RvW we are destined to repeat the mistakes of both ourselves and every other tea that bought a foreign flop who cost the earth and looked great in another league

I can see your logic, GMD, but we currently have a full squad of 26 senior players, with Redmond still counting as U21. Loza, Matthews and Morris are also available as U21 players on top of the 26. It's then a question of what players leave for any £2m gambles coming in. Turner and RvW might, and possibly O'Neil as well, but I'd think we want better quality players to replace them before turning to any gambles.

Was one of Hull's best players last season, and the ones I have spoke to said he was superb in the second half of the season. Relatively quick but not lightening, but technically he is brilliant. Crossing and passing is excellent, and is very good at free-kicks as well. Like Wes though he hasn't got a right foot, but he is very good with his left. He has had a very injury hit last couple of seasons though. Not worth anywhere near £15m, about £5m is probably the right fee, but Hull will likely hold out for more.

The closer we get to the season starting, the more they'll get desperate to sell him. He won't be worth £7m in a fortnight, so why pay it now?
