Given that we turned down the £10m offered by Chelsea some time back, it seems unlikely, but you never know.

Selling a proven goalkeeper like Ruddy sounds like a surefire way to wreck promotion chances in my opinion. He's well in contract, he's stated he's happy to be here as long as the club wants him and I just don't believe the club would do anything that short-sighted when the club's in good shape fiscally.

I don't think we should sell any of our key players this January unless we get really silly money for somebody. 

The only example I can think of where a promoted team has done so is Palace with Zaha who they sold in January but were loaned the player back for the rest of the season. We should instead be trying to get rid of people like Bassong and Becchio, maybe even Garrido, if we want to cut costs or free up wages to bring in a couple of fresh faces. 

I mean if somebody wants to offer £15m for Redmond with him remaining at the club until the summer, then that would possibly be too good to turn down. 

But otherwise it would show a severe lack of ambition and would be reminiscent of the time we sold Dean Ashton halfway through our first season back in this league (and we are in a better position in the league this time around, so it would in fact be worse).

Ruddy for £8m? In the summer if we don't go up, or in the summer if he wants to go, sure. 

In January? No. The summer is the time to do business like this, preferably in the gap between the season finishing and pre-season starting. The exception being if we want some cash for a player who is running down their contract (we don't have any of those, Bunn and Cuellar don't count because they aren't worth anything).

The fans and players have started to get that feel good factor back, a little bit of belief, would be suicide to jeopardise that by selling somebody like Ruddy, Hooper, Howson, or Redmond.

Suppose the big issue will be how Ruddy reacts if a bid materialises. When Chelsea bid for him previously (and wasnt it more like 5m?) Ruddy was happy to stay. He had regular Premier League football, was England number 2 and thought he needed first team football to go to the World Cup.

Things are now very different. He's in the Championship and risks being here for a while. He's upset that some fans have targetted him, and his England prospects have dwindled. If we received a firm bid from Liverpool (not sure if he's from Liverpool but being an Everton youth product may feel he has unfinished business here) Ruddy might well feel it was in his best interests to move on. He might feel any England future depends on it.

If Ruddy has had a loss of form this season I wouldnt be too surprised if his shabby treatment by Hodgson was behind it.

Ruddy is in a very different place from before. If a bid comes in and he wants to go, I think we'll struggle to keep hold of him and it might be better for all parties if we didnt stand in his way.
