All that confirmed and NA will return to the club in a new capacity in July. Does that mean Phelan has the job?

Well its his decision I guess but we aren't going to be any better with a different manager. The problems go deeper than that.

Its a shame imo as given time I think we could have clicked into a very impressive team. I never wanted to bring up stats as I know some people hate them, but we were top or near the top of all the stats you could think of applying to tactical dominance, possession, shots, passing, time spent in opposition half, time spent in our half. All we needed to do was iron out the creases and I think given a season or two he would have done that.

Darren Eadie has just spoken very sensibly, almost like a supporter, on SSN. He believes that the pressure of being told to get promotion at the first attempt was beyond Adams, at this stage.

But football, as with most sports, is made up of impatient owners, impatient supporters and is controlled by results equating to money in the bank rather than entertaining fans.

I agree with that there's no guarantee that things will be different with a different manager, DM. Something must have gone wrong somewhere behind the scenes, but this doesn't make me optimistic about promotion.

Was disappointed in the results but I was not yet calling for it.  That said, I'm glad it's been done with the transfer window just opening rather than closing.

It's a mixed blessing though, Lone Star. Will Phelan be able to wheel and deal as Caretaker Manager? I suppose that will be the indicator really.

Eadie said that he would take the Norwich squad over any other in this division. That the ability is there. I do have my doubts about that.

I am a firm believer that it isn't all about ability. If it was Vinnie Jones would still be a hod carrier and Nottingham Forest would never have won the CL twice. It is also about the mix, the interaction off the field, whether your family is happy.

Obviously you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear so you do need a good squad. And frankly, neither Hughton or Adams had success with their signings, long term that is.

But Bassong is due back next week and Bennet is back fro Brighton. Just maybe they could improve what we have.

Maybe it is the best squad but its a squad where large chunks of it were bought to play Hughton ball. I don't think its a coincidence that our defensive players seem unable to concentrate for 90 mins in a team that is spending most of its time attacking rather than being the defence in a game of attack vs defence.

Imo Adam's biggest failing was in the transfer market, we didn't need something old, something new, something borrowed for our cbs, we needed one proven Championship one in his prime. We didn't need to let go of 3 creative midfield players and not replace them with like. Its hard to blame him that much for that as it was his first transfer window as a manager, and at a club that still does not have a manager-independant scouting setup.

We do have good players, but we don't yet have a consistently good 'team'. The ability is there, but the attitude isn't there consistently enough, IMO. Will Phelan be able to improve that? I certainly hope so. I also wonder if Bassong will be given a chance to come back now, or will that just make matters worse?

I am happy if this has been spun as a resignation, which I personally doubt, but considering what a club man he is, them that's fine and a decent way to end things......its a shame Gunny couldnt have gone in a similar way.

I cant believe anyone believes that given time he would have turned things round, regardless of the stats.......there is only one stat you need to look at and that is the number of points gained to date...and that one just is not good enough.

We do have a great squad, but a squad that seems to have attitude problems.....we now need a strong leader of a manager, someone with a track record, who has done it before and who will not suffer fools gladly...............Neil Warnock anybody?
