The subject has indirectly reared its head again!
Season ticket holders in block A in the Lower Barclay have received a threatening letter from the club basically saying either sit down, or you won't be coming to the game on the 22nd, they will close the block.
All kicking off on social media about it, it appears its one guy who has an issue who rather than go to the club, has gone directly to the North Norfolk Safety action group. Word on the street is that he refuses to move. People are rightly annoyed about this (great timing Norwich City, though I do see how their hand has been forced) as basically the entire lower Barclay stands for most games. And before this guy sat in the stand, I'm pretty sure he knew this.
I can see this getting ugly on Saturday.

The atmosphere is dying on it's head with the boring home football. The ability to somehow make it worse will take some doing, but this might.

This has gone national now with the BBC running a story, and the Football Supporters Federation retweeting the Barclay End's statement. Its good that it is being discussed, but the A block moaner has a lot to answer for!

Well I hope he's happy at the shitstorm he has kicked up. He has basically held Norwich City to ransom, and especially everyone else in the block, who would rather stand.
If this turns nasty on Saturday and they start kicking people out, theres a real chance the SAG could withdraw the safety licence for the block for the following game.
Sad state of affairs all because of some Meldrew who refuses to move.

The guy isnt in the wrong legally but you'd think common sense would prevail and rather than ruin football for a few thousand you'd simply move your ticket.

Nephew Tom is in charge of elf n safety.
"Shares for safe standing" is a fundraiser I'd pop a hundred quid into, even as somebody who hardly ever goes to home games. Just needs to be the Barclay Lower.
Anybody who wants to stand sit in the Barclay Lower, anybody who can't or doesn't want to go elsewhere. That sounds fair enough to me.
Plus it will increase capacity, and its literally the only way that we could do that in reality... a new City stand was priced at £30m+, and we're skint.

Look on page one of this thread, the seats are smaller and It works at a figure of 1.8 rail seats to 1 normal one.

When the seats are 'locked up' the capacity would be increased.
When 'locked down' probably slightly reduced. But would only be 'locked down' in competitions which require all seating, if the Football League and Premier League agree to safe seating then I believe that would only be the Champions League (and I think only if you reach the Group Stages). No danger of us reaching the group stage of the Champions League in my lifetime, and I plan on living another 40 years even when taking into consideration 12 years of chain smoking :lol:

Even though I stood in the "old days" I really have never understood why so much fuss is made about the requirement to sit, and why some insist on standing in seated areas and make such a big deal about it. That said, I am 100% behind having safestanding and it jars me off why its taking so long to make decisions on it........

What a dickhead that bloke is who complained. The majority of the lower Barclay stand, that's just common knowledge. If you don't want to stand for the whole game you don't sit there. Standard.

Perhaps the entire block should sit down for the game but the eight people in front of him should have a banner on poles which says the words "Don't worry this banner is fire resistant" on it, just to block his view.
They could block his view for the game while remaining seated, and without breaching any regulations.
Granted it would annoy the few people either side of him, but they will probably understand.
Do people actually know who it is then? Or is it going to be a weird atmosphere of suspicion, people wondering if its the bloke who sits next to them?

My lad was saying to me last night (and I have never really noticed this before) that actually most of block A and B sit down. So maybe we have got this a bit wrong?
The guy is still a major wang for squealing about it though.
