And yeah I'd like to see Cantwell loaned out. I think a year playing regularly in the Championship would benefit him much more than sitting on our bench (if he's even able to make it). If we could loan him out to a mid-table side; Brentford, Hull, Bristol City, somewhere where he'll get plenty of game-time but also potentially be a key player, I think there's a great chance he'll kick on massively, which would benefit us whichever division we're in at the end of next season.

I would have said Norwich needed a goalie, couple of center backs and a few midfielders for the attacking side of things to avoid relegation. Now that Krul resigned, I'm not sure whats going on.... Or I'm not seeing the master plan...

In fairness nobody could see the master plan when we first signed him.

I'm hoping this is a sign that Webber acknowledges we are going to need to drop proper money on a few other positions. Nobody can claim that a new keeper is more important than a Tettey upgrade.

Also... We do need three keepers, and Krul would be a decent number 2 for any club in this league. Perhaps that IS the masterplan.

No doubt Krul will start as No 1, but who's to say he would still be No 1 after 1, 2 let alone 3 years. Good mentor to have around as contract runs down. Let's not forget he was a World Cup player in 2014, and has done incredibly well to come back from a very bad injury.

Well he may well not be, but he'd simply then be our number 2 wouldn't he?

Also, he was already contracted for the first of those years... But yes... He may finish that contract as our number 2 if we stay up and can spend big. But he may be our number 1 back in the Championship.

Also a difficult position to buy for, foreign keepers can flop big time. Somebody at some stage will gamble on Fraser Forster or Joe Hart and try and revive them, but would be suicidal to do that if the backup player was McGovern or Mark Bunn... You'd want a Krul at the same time.

I was actually thinking the other day that Forster would be an interesting one... Farke has turned around the careers of several players, including a keepers.

Go and look at the quality of the other number 2's in this league... Button at Brighton, Adrian at West Ham, Boruc at Bournemouth.

Burnley have managed to collect three England internationals.

Personally I think it's worth paying good money for a quality experienced goalkeeper as a number 2... Would rather we didn't go down the road of a Mark Bunn who has been a professional number 2 for his whole career.

We had to give Rudd games too early as well, and we were lucky that Lee Camp had a little honeymoon period in his 3 appearances.

Krul will probably be well aware of the possibility that we may bring in serious competition for his shirt and he may end up the number 2.

Lewis, Aarons and Godfrey and their agents all seemed to feel that their offers were in line with their worth at the time though?

I suspect Webber just doesn't value Cantwell as highly as those three, and he isn't happy that his offer is lower. I'd agree with Webber on that one.

Three are first XI players, the other is a squad player right now.

I have no problem with this, just highlighting that sometimes the media is used to 'manage' situations and amazingly enough, although Clubs surely wont tell blatant lies in public - we always are wary that we might not be told the whole truth.
