So how long is a reasonable amount of time for Neil Adams?

If we had an in form striker we wouldn't be having this convo. I've said it quite a few times now but I still think giving Hooper more game time and a few starts will help him get the match fitness and sharpness that every striker needs. Persisting with Grabban and Jerome when off form isn't going to get us anywhere. IMO they both aren't good strikers anyway and require far too many chances to score.

Agreed, is time to start giving Hooper some football. Jerome is still playing very well, was so unlucky not to score on Saturday, but Grabban keeps missing sitters. Seeing as he adds very little else other than his goals, when he isn't scoring he shouldn't be playing.

I actually like Grabban, nothing wrong with strikers who don't do much in a game but bury their chance when they get it, which he was doing earlier in the season. Recently he has missed one sitter too many and its time to give Hooper a go.

I wish I could agree with you on Jerome Yellow Fever but I just can't. The last time he proved he could score goals at this level was nearly 10 years ago with Cardiff. Admittedly he's been playing in the Prem ever since so hasn't really had a chance to prove himself again. Take a look at his goal scoring record in the Prem from the link below, he's not had a good season since 09-10.

He is already looking to completely surpass any of his last 8 years football this season, which is great. But I just don't think he's going to be reliable, just a player that will heavily rely on form and will have a few patches throughout the season which will see him end on about 12 goals. Hope I'm wrong, but that's what I feel will happen.

I have to say that's what I feared when we signed him, Safri, but I think he's done well to score 6 goals in 9 matches (one as sub), having missed the pre-season. Would Hooper have scored that many? Anybody's guess.

I agree with Monty - Adams deserves this season -unless we are so far out of the promotion race ( on a mathematical basis, not one defined by fan hysteria)

His job is to get us back up - how really doesn't matter to me. I am with many in being concerned by the recent results, and I don't buy the 'bad luck' card either - it isn't luck when it is the same pattern 6 matches in a row. We should have enough to break down any of these sides who try to defend in depth add number against us. There is currently a lack of creativity in the side, not helped by some stubborn tactics (sound familiar?) and a truly WTF? Moment on Saturday when the team was announced!

However that said I will back Neil until we are completely out of it, and he needs and deserves some time to get it right. He is inexperienced and we should congratulate the board for trying to build from within and for giving an a English guy a chance and not going for an obscure foreign coach, or even worse, a recycled 'name'. He has the squad to meet the expectations set out for him - even if we don't sign anyone else we have a strong enough squad already and I fully expect 3 or 4 new arrivals in January. He has all the pieces of the jigsaw but hasn't yet shown huge talent in deploying the pieces in the right places. I hope that this is something that will improve with experience.

I also agree with the comment above that we could do with giving someone a good 5 or 6 goal,drubbing...I can see it,coming too, if we were to score a couple of first half goals and get comfortably ahead in a game...then we could relax and really make the quality of,our squad count.

I still think we,will go up. Maybe in second, maybe through the play offs (though I bloody hope not!) but the fact nobody in this division can string 2 wins together advantages us, as well as demonstrates how freaky this league is

The Bolton win certainly changes the nature of this discussion, but the Boro and Forest matches should give a better indication of how things might go for the rest of the season. It's the six-pointers like these which will be a telling factor, IMO, so these will be a good test. If City can build on the Bolton performance and develop the new midfield combination of Howson, O'Neil and Tettey further in these matches that could restore some faith after recent frustrations. Much will also depend on the strikers, of course, and not giving away sloppy goals but I, for one, look forward to the challenge coming up.

The next 2 games will certainly be very interesting. When you think about it though, this season we have been better away from home, because unlike home games the opposition being the home team feel the need not just to stick 10 men behind the ball, but to actually attack us a bit. Middlesbrough and Forest are 2 teams who both want and expect to be challenging for promotion come the end of the season, and therefore it is likely that they will come and attack us. That's why I'm slightly optimistic for these 2 games.

DIn, that's also my view, I think a couple of decent home side forcing the pace is what we need as really believe that if and when we do player at a higher temps we will start to come close to our potential......it has to happen soon surely.

Jerome has commented on this in the Pink'un, where he says that he hopes Boro and Forest will stand 'toe-to-toe' with City and attack rather than defend in depth. Looking forward to seeing how this might go, really.

The thing is, we know most teams are going to hit us on the counter. Indeed despite the 4-0 result, we dictated the midfield first half while the game was a contest and got done on the counter. How about we set our team and tactics up to combat this and not "hope" that teams play to our strengths?
