There was a serious offer from somebody suitably capable to take over responsibility.
Likewise there were plenty of people saying that they would be happy to put themselves forward offering to help out with things.
I am really tired at the moment, and plenty of people including a real life friend have told me not to make a rash decision and to wait until I have some time to chill out and think about things with a clear mind.
I have two things to consider basically. I can seek out volunteers to run the social media and a few other things, like starting match threads, in the hope that things will get easier for me in the future. Effectively taking a step back from the day to day management and just being here in case things go wrong.
Or I can hand the project over. People have told me to give that serious consideration, so that's what I will do. The future of the forum shouldn't be in doubt though, as any hand over would be done on the understanding that I'd be offered it back if a new owner wanted to discard it.
What I really want to work out actually is whether I'd have the time and energy to upgrade this place to 4.0 when the time comes. It is a complete software rewrite, meaning I'll have to redesign the site, but it will massively improve this place, especially for mobile and tablet users. Right now the prospect is daunting.
But I'd feel like an idiot if I gave this place away in December, and then found myself sitting around in January with nothing to do wishing that I had a forum to develop and promote.
