 We seem to be missing a number 9!  Now up on the official site.

Yes seems our top striker and scorer for the coming season hasnt arrived yet !

And Toffolo the only younger player given a number.

That's Lafferty gone then, been stripped of the number 9 and given number 19.

Also, hasn't Van Wolfswinkel's squad number been further demoted? Wasn't he number 20 last year, now number 29? Unless he wants a number 9 in his number and has requested as such?

Also Bassong has been handed the number 6 shirt, whilst Michael Turner has been given number 26.

Gives a fairly strong indication that Lafferty, Turner and Van Wolfswinkel aren't required?

Surprised no shirt number for Josh Murphy, must be on the loan list. 

Meanwhile, Hooper keeps the number 11, so looks like he's staying?

I'm not sure how much you can read into it considering Mulumbu is 21 and Tettey is 27.

Then again those seem to be their favoured numbers.

This is the real list. 16 and 9 missing. Would seem Neil is definitely expecting 2 to come in, one quite obviously to be considered 'the main man'. With few irons in the fire this would seem destined for Mbokani

Don't think there's too much we can read into them that we didn't already know. Lack of number 9 suggests we're looking for a striker, which AN has confirmed, and the fact that Lafferty and Turner have been demoted suggests they're not wanted, or at the very least going to be involved particularly often. Same possibly goes for Van Wolfswinkel. I also wouldn't read too much into Toffolo getting number 15, baring in mind that Loza was given the number 16 shirt last season and only played 2 or 3 times, Miquel and Jacob Murphy also wore 15 and 25 and yet neither played a league game I don't think.

As I just posted on the 'Who Should We Sign' thread: Apparently McNally said after the game that we'd be signing a new player on Monday. Mbokani or someone else? That must be the number 9 then.
