Squad Strength

I think this spell with a lot of games is absolutely key to the season and I've just been reading in the local paper here the new Forest boss complaining that he can't add to the squad (lost out on Woods because they couldn't match the contribution to salary the scum are making apparently) due to their FFP embargo.  As an aside I have to say given the choice of Assombalonga for £5m as Forest paid, or Grabban for £3m plus Jerome for £1;5m (I think that's what I saw) I'd prefer to have our strike force anyway !

Right now squad size is so important because of the fixture pile-up, at a time when we're well into the season with accumulated injuries/yellow cards.  We've had/got :

Watford - Saturday

Blackburn - Tuesday

Scum - Sunday

Wigan - Wednesday

Millwall - Saturday

Derby - Saturday

Huddersfield - Tuesday

Forest - Saturday

& then the international break. 

Hopefully the depth of our squad will serve us well over this period with 2 games per week over a sustained period.  We shall see !

I dont think there's many clubs in the championship that could argue that our squad is the strongest in the league, heck I'd have our squad ahead of a few of the premierships squads (Villa, Leicester, Burnley etc..)

We have experienced cover in pretty much every position

GK - Ruddy/Bunn/Rudd

DL - Olsson/Garrido

DR - Whittaker/Martin

DC - Bassong/Turner/Bennett/Cuellar

ML - Johnson/Hoolahan

MR - Redmond/Bennett

MC - Tettey/O'Neil/Howson/Vadis/Andreu/Dorrans

FW - Jerome/Hooper/Grabban

Only real isssue with our squad is the left of midfield which we dont really have anyone natural out there with the exception of Josh Murphy who desperately needs a season on loan at a league one club, having said that Johnson has been superb there this season

Spare a thought for Derby who have both Martin and Bent out with hamstring problems!
