Also, to answer your point,  a home loss to Reading, would in my eyes, be a more 'sackable' game, then Wigan away. It hasn't happened
Its patently obvious though that they would never sack him just two days after giving him a new coach to work with.

If we do appoint a new manager, it needs to be someone with actual experience, not just another coach that fancies trying his hand at the job.

Agree with that also, I just can't see Phelan wanting to be a Manager. Just a gut instinct

Crabby, we're not going to agree, but I'm not trying to fit your words to anything. The fact is that players and managers have symbiotic relationships, they don't operate in vacuums. What players do affect managers and vice versa. When all's said and done its up to managers to get the best out of players and do you honestly feel that Adams has got even close to that?

I hate seeing managerial change, which is one reason I stayed behind Hughton so long, because its always a gamble and usually involves going backwards to go forwards, but surely you can see that this is spiral that's gaining momentum with every bad result?

Beausant, I am not saying that Adams hasn't made mistakes, and I am not saying that, at the moment, there are things that need changing , and fairly quickly.

My point is in the minutiae, of players not kicking the ball into the net, having got into the position to shoot, having played well, having been set up by the Manager to play in a certain way ( a tick in the box for Adams?)

Also that Defenders are not defending as their natural ability should normally allow.

Both of those points cannot be laid at Adams doorstep, when you get to the 'about to shoot to score a goal' or 'defend like defenders of that standard should be doing' scenario

The possession percentage and shots stats have been heavily in our favour in certain games that we haven't ended up winning. Why is that Adams fault, in some people's eyes? Why can't Adams be given credit for that at least?

But to follow your logic through, surely Hughton should never have been sacked? His forwards missed chances, his defenders made errors. What's the difference?

We never dominated the number of games that we have this season, under Hughton, last. There is a large slice of not getting what we deserve out of a large number of games, and we have been watching football long enough, to realise that you always get a small number of games like that in a season, but have you ever seen a season like this, on such a scale? I cannot recall any, in 40 years.

Re Adams/Hughton's sackings, there is always a line in the sand, and some fans think that has been crossed, but they are using certain excuses which, imo, do not hold up, and are using them to add weight to their 'Sack Adams' stick.

I see even Jonny Howson admits there have been 'silly' mistakes, things that Adams cannot be responsible for. Would I expect him, or any player, to say anything different? No, because I can see that is the case.

Its more than silly mistakes though.    Players aren't doing their jobs and have lost confidence in what they are doing.   If the methods employed by the manager are not leading to a good attitude and belief on the pitch, then there is something not right.   The defence has been too porous all season and the only response has been to attack more.   It appears to me that the players are not responding to the challenge as well as they could and the team ethic is not as strong as it should be.  We are not Man City that we can rely on odd bits of superb skill to get us through, we are just another team trying to fight its way through - and atm we are being found wanting.  Something has to change - the approach, the attitude or the manager - because it just isn't working.
