As a debating point do you sack Neil now get in an experienced Prem a manger give him the Jan window to buy or stick with Neil where we are increasingly looking like being stuck in a relegation fight.

Glenn Roeder is avalable after a recent spell at Sheffield Wednesday. Worth a punt I say, would whip our current bunch into shape.

Definitely stick. He is learning all the time.

We are hamstrung by not having the financial resources to compete - well with pretty much with every club in the premiership, so we need a manager that can get a team to punch above its weight. Which I believe Alex has shown he can. Whether that is enough for us to survive, time will tell, but it is probably our best shot.

I don't think we can keep quoting financial reasons for our plight. It isn't always how much you spend but on who you spend it on. Other clubs have equal spending restrictions to ours but at the moment are doing better. We have no excuse to be behind Bournemouth or Watford but we are.

And while we don't have a very good squad the manager must still take some of the blame for our predicament. He might be held back by a "prudent" board but I haven't heard him use that as an excuse to his credit. But on the other hand I do think he is more likely to blame the players than his tactics.

Monday is massive. Anything less than a win and I fear for us. An impressive win will restore confidence but a lucky win will suffice.

Would we expect to be, considering that Hughton was backed with our largest ever transfer spend in the summer of that season and that was our third consecutive season in this league, and between him leaving and Alex Neil arriving we'd lost Snodgrass, Fer and Pilkington?

Can't have too many complaints with the quality of the signings that we have made? Haven't seen much of Mulumbu and Jarvis due to injuries but both clearly have quality, Wisdom is very mediocre but I'd pick him above Russell Martin at right back at least, and Mbokani knows how to stick the ball in the net even if he is a bit of a work in progress?

We are not in the bottom 3 at the moment, what did people honestly expect? Should we finish 17th come the end of the season then Alex Neil has done his job. We honestly have one of the weakest squads in the league, and finishing outside the bottom 3 is our aim for the season, and right now we're doing that.

Half the time Alex Neil isn't even to blame. How many times this season have we lost games because of individual errors? That's not Alex Neil's fault, that's the quality of the players we have, which again demonstrates how big a job Neil has to keep us up. In the games this season against Arsenal, Chelsea, Man.City, Leicester, West Ham, Stoke and Palace, as well as a couple of others, Neil has got the tactics spot on, but individual errors have cost us. In all of those games we played well, but the lack of quality cost us. That isn't Neil's fault. Let him spend money in January to improve the general quality of the squad and we will be absolutely fine. I have absolutely no doubts about that.

I think the difference is that Hughton wasn't really supported in the January transfer window, as his days were numbered. Even if he had kept us up I think he would have been sacked. So the board rolled the dice hoping Hughton would keep us up, with minimal spend. Of course it never worked out.

Alex Neil is on a totally different cusp, as far as I can tell the board have confidence in him, and plan on backing him long term.

So I would be extremely disappointed if he wasn't backed sufficiently, regardless of the relegation outcome at the end of the season. I think if we went down we would stick with him.

I am led to believe bids were tabled and they didn't come off. Its a different gamble, technically we are pretty much, points wise, on target for survival. However I will be pretty disappointed if I don't see between 10 and 20 million spent in January.
