Nah, I don't think Howson will oust Tettey or Johnson as a holding midfielder.

Howson needs to be in the Hoolahan position or nothing, for me anyway. 

Like the rest of the team though.  Perhaps sometimes away from home we will alternate Grabban and Lafferty if we need to control the game via a target man to hold it up rather than pace running onto the ball.

I think that is true for Cardiff, but after that Tettey and Johnson could rotate to allow Odjidja-Ofoe and Howson to provide more attacking options. Both the latter could be considered options for the Wes role 'in the hole' as well. Similarly, I think once Hooper is fit, he and Jerome could be competing for the central striker role with Grabban on the right and Lafferty or Redmond on the left. Neil certainly has a lot of options to consider, and I haven't even mentioned the defence!

I personally think Howson is better as a sitting midfielder. Whilst he isn't great defensively he is very good at surging forward from deep, and has a great range of passing. He also works very hard off the ball.

I also think Howson is more effective when he has license to get forward, although we seem to have serious competition in all positions now - is all going to come down to form and fitness who gets picked, nice to know that even four or five injuries to senior players would still leave us with a strong team. Not many of our rivals could say the same, possibly only Forest & Cardiff have similarly deep squads.

I'm not sure how Vadis is going to break into the team. I believe his main position is central so he'll find it difficult to replace BJ or AT at the moment who are both playing brilliantly.

As our version of a marquee signing I can not see VO-O as anything other than a starter. We are unlikely to pay that sort of fee and put him on the bench.

However we still know little about him. For instance even his preferred position. Anybody know?

I think I read somewhere that he does play centrally but in a more defensive position. Despite that montage of his goals. That suggests that possibly NA still has it in mind to play the diamond at times. But all speculation really until we know a bit more about him!
