A lot of kids still. I do worry we’ve gone from a club trying finish as high up the ladder as possible to a glorified academy with a first team attached

Yeah I wouldn't disagree with that, as soon as someone becomes worth anything then they are sold. We don't seem to retain quality players for long.

I’m all for buying promising youngsters, but you can’t fill a team full of them.
You need a solid first team of players in their prime years with youngsters waiting in the wings for injuries, loss of form or them being poached by clubs higher up the food chain. You need experience for those youngsters to learn from

Players in their prime cost more, so we always seem to shop in the " promising youngster" bracket and also the " just past his prime" bracket. Always a gamble. This window will show us if this philosophy has changed or not with the new owners.

Can you remember a time when we beat another club to a player? A signing that other fans eyed jealously? No, me neither.

We’re all well aware we can’t afford top players in their prime. However we should be able to afford decent 2nd tier players in their prime, complimented by some promising youngsters who will go on to bigger and better things.
However as you say I’m struggling to think of many signings that recently where we’ve prised a top ready made from the league below

I would think that means Duffy's leaving
And Hills and Adeboyega?

Anyway, the great thing about all these signings is that it is still before pre season starts.
Secondly, we've signed two players from big clubs who paid good money for these players.
Pleased with Darling signing too (and of course Wright).
If we can get the defence sorted we have a chance this season. Except for the Farke years, former promoted City teams have shored up at the back.
