On the Vrancic and wider centre midfielder subject.... the 39 games that he played last season was the most he'd ever played in a single season, and he's 29.
I wonder whether Farke is actually being quite smart and making projections about how frequently any player is likely able to play without his performances being affected. It could be that Vrancic struggled when he arrived because he'd never been used to the intensity / frequency of games? Think all of the German players are used to a mid-season break also?
Add to that Tettey, Trybull, and Leitner all unlikely to complete a full season based on their injury records, and Louis Thompson going to have to be used sparingly after being crocked with the same injury twice.
We saw Pinto really struggle when he needed a rest last season. So there may be method in the madness, and a clear rotation system next season coupled with two very distinct systems? Wouldn't put it past him to analyse stuff like this, seeing Vrancic as a 30 game player, Tettey as a 25 game player, McLean as a 'use as much as you want' player etc. And then calculating our needs based on that?
Sounds crazy but Alex Ferguson would make judgements on the genetics of players like they were racehorses to predict their likely career span / when they would peak, and knew that Rooney would be finished by 30 when he signed him at 18. He was spot on!
He was managed to extend the career of Ryan Giggs by donkey's years by changing his position and turning him into a rotation player.

Surprised he wasn't even given a second chance, clearly he's just nowhere near good enough.
Shame as I had high hopes for him when he signed, plus he cost us £2m which is money we can't afford to be wasting nowadays.
