Well if Farke sees a future for Godfrey at centre back then that would go some way to explaining the huge number of centre midfielders and it doesn't strike me as the most ludicrous of ideas as long as it was intended to be a permanent transition.... last thing a 20 year old player needs is to be used at right back, centre back, and centre midfield.... does the game or our club really need to create another bang average utility player?

What if he turns out to be a brilliant utility player ? I know what you’re saying, a player needs a best position, and I believe Godfrey sees himself as a defensive midfielder, but Harrison Reed did ok in a number of positions last season didn’t he ?

Given our scouting policy of recruiting players to specifically fit the system / style we play, that makes no sense though. I assume they watched him play before we signed him.

He's probably signed as a win/win. Either he makes the grade or we make some money out of loans fees etc.

I also don't think the step up in class from where he's been to the Champs should be underestimated.

Hmmm, I don't think he falls into the category of a Maddison style "Lets snap him up and make a bundle on him" I think he is beyond the status of "promising youngster" at 24.

Nah your theory is a bit thin for me, I think we signed him with the intention of using him.

similar deal to the Cody McDonald one, not a huge fee or wages to worry about, if he makes the grade fantastic, if he doesn't not much lost, though I'd of liked to of seen him given more of a chance to be honest

It was a bit weird how we have a manager who likes centre backs who are comfortable in possession and can get on the ball, and we then sign a pound shop Ryan Shawcross.

Just feels like Webber signed a player that Farke didn't want to be honest. Unless we think we can make a bit of money signing players, loaning them out a couple of times and then selling them again, perhaps that's a revenue stream now..... but if it was then we wouldn't have let Glenn Middleton and Louis Ramsey leave for not being fancied to make our first team would we? Because then we'd just have loaned them out a few times and then flogged them.

Or perhaps they honestly thought they could change Raggett's game and it just didn't happen? Or perhaps they still think they can change his game, and he'll be working on it at Rotherham?

We get lots of faces in, some make it, some don't, not just Raggett, Saw at the time 500k quoted. He came from Lincoln, after playing non league. Surely no one thinks that Lincoln were paying mega pennies so we really had to push the boat out. Now he will be learning his trade a league higher, same league as us. If it works it works. Can\t see too much wrong We have other players out on loan too. haven't seen any moans there

Hi there Canaries, Dutch Fortuna Sittard fan here. Anyone have any information on how Super Todd is doing? Lad made quite an impression over here on loan last season. Do you reckon he's in your plans for the coming season, or is he probably better off going out on loan again? I know for a fact that my club is still very keen on getting him for a 2nd spell.

It sounds like we may be trying to sign a winger after letting Yanic Wildschut leave on loan, suspect that Todd Cantwell leaving will be dependent on that winger arriving to be honest. Whoever it is.

He played in a pre season friendly tonight, but to be honest, we seem to have a fair bit of competition in midfield, so I wouldn't be hugely surprised if he went out on loan again. Really only guessing though!

Yeah can't see Cantwell getting a chance here this season unfortunately. I think as well he'll probably be loaned out to somewhere else in England, probably a League 1 club, purely as he doesn't really have any experience of the English game.

To be fair though Fortuna Sittard are now in the Eredivisie could mean that we'd consider it, as the chance to play against the likes of Ajax and PSV would be good opportunities to show what he can do. I wouldn't be against it at all.
