I called this when we signed Leitner!
I don't think Vrancic is good enough if we are hoping to ever challenge for a play off place.... too one paced to be an attacking threat and doesn't score enough goals. Looks better in a deeper role but still looks like a poor mans Graham Dorrans when there.... at least Dorrans could pitch in with a few tackles, was harder than he looked.
Vrancic looked alright in the second half of the season after looking like a rabbit caught in the headlights for most of the first half but just doesn't offer enough for me.... Leitner clearly a better player, and McLean probably got more goals in him.
Also the homegrown player quota thing means that there won't often be a place on the bench for Vrancic because we'll need an English player on the bench instead to fulfill the quota, probably the same reason why Wildschut was let go despite not having an abundance of wingers.
Norwich fans seem to simultaneously moan that we have 70% possession but pass the ball sideways all game, but will moan if we sell Vrancic.... who has 2 assists to show for his time here, keep hearing how great he is at passing but don't remember many that split the opposition defence open.
Personally I think he's bang average. Doesn't really tackle, doesn't score goals, has no turn of pace, can't beat a man.... can't just point out that he can spray the ball about, that doesn't make him a good midfielder.... he's about as far from "all round" as you can get. He came in during the summer where we lost Howson and Dorrans.... and is dog sh*t in comparison, just my opinion.
