I'm pretty sure they all thought of Hughton as a 'nice guy'... but it was clear many didn't see him as the right man to navigate the next 1-3 years of their careers.

Not sure there is much evidence either way to be honest. Hughton's track record in fact shows that he is well liked by many players, Redmond and Bassong are two who moved to Norwich because of Hughton and working with him.

I think this is just a case of a player with an expiring contract signing an extension, probably with a payrise, for his own security.

I'm not sure he really "muttered darkly about leaving", although I remember a comment towards the end of last season about how much he enjoyed playing in the Prem, but he is a great lad who brings power and energy to the team. The prospect of him and Howson in the same midfield is quite scary at this level. Delighted that he's signed.

I was thinking Hoolahan as the main example, Adams really turned that situation round.

Think I'm correct in saying that you can't sign a pre-contract with a fellow English club until the season has finished, in January he would only have been able to sign a pre-contract with a club outside England?

As for the OP, not sure about the 'Adams Factor', but I firmly believe that players like Turner and Tettey would not sign new contracts with us if they thought we'd be hanging around in this division. They have signed new contracts because they believe we will be a Premier League team again next season.

The fans believe it, the players believe it, everybody has started to believe it.

Players like to be in a winning side. If he moved to the Prem it would only be to a struggling side. He probably thinks he has more chance of being in the Prem next year by staying with us.

I'm pretty sure that it is just Bunn and Garrido now, but we have a one year option on Garrido.

I had to look up all the contracts when created the 'Current players' threads, and have been updating them as I go along.

That's fantastic - ok it gives him security but he could let his contract run down if he seriously wanted to leave ?

I've said it before - IMO he's the best defensive midfielder we've had at City for the last 20 years.

I probably just googled each and used Archant articles as reference.

Transfermarkt gives contract information, but I found one or two to be incorrect.

I created the topic Nine players out of contract June 2015 after doing it. The 9 players then were:

Ryan Bennett

Wes Hoolahan

Michael Turner

Andrew Surman

Alex Tettey

Declan Rudd

Mark Bunn

Anthony Pilkington

Javier Garrido (we have a one year option). 

Which would leave just Bunn & Garrido.
