The Nathan Redmond Thread

Another frustrating performance from Redders, I think it's time for a change as his lack of form is clearly upsetting him judging from his tweet last night:

I think he needs a rest and should be in the bench on Saturday. If he starts and has another bad day I suspect that he will not get such a sympathetic reaction from NCFC fans.

Am I the only one who feels as if we are beginning to see some better crosses and passes from Redmond the past few games?

Certainly seems to me that he is now finding better areas with his crosses. Still nothing coming from them too often but I felt I saw some more direction in his delivery recently.

Still got to get more players in the box to to give him more options for me though

Think he's severely lacking a spark which he's showed previously, and indeed in England games.  With his pace when we were attacking on the right side he was nowhere near the box by the time a ball could be delivered, he's got to be getting in those areas if he hasn't the ball.  Wonder if he's got a slight injury concern,  if i'm honest.  Because i don't think he's the sort of player to lose it mentality, he just seems too upbeat and self motivated for that.

There's sod all age difference between him and Josh murphy and already i think Murphy is a better all round attacking player, despite there being a distinct feeling that Redmond is far more maturer.

Redmond was much improved on Saturday, for sure.

Mr Redmond deserves to have his thread bumped today, I thought his second half performance was sensational.

There was a poll on here yesterday about who is our best player, most went with Howson and i couldn't argue with that but personally i feel Redmond when he's on form and consistent (crucially that's the key thing) he is the most naturally gifted player at the club and has the most potential of anyone to go far in the game.

Improved contribution from Redmond I thought today. When on the left seemed happy to give it to Olsson on the overlap, and when on the right got in some good crosses. Seemed to spend more time in the middle too which seemed to work well, though perhaps needed to get his shots off earlier if he was going to shoot. Only real criticism would be he seemed to dawdle a bit when in the middle but had the chance to run towards and down the right flank and murder their fullback. I want to see him want to skin their fullback as his first instinct, he easily has the talent. Hope he keeps it up as Josh is breathing down his neck

I wonder if he is under instructions that we don't understand. For someone who is blessed with the one attribute that can't be taught, and that is pace, he does, at times, seem loathe to just go past his man.

But his contribution, in the last two games with crosses that led to goals, is improving and I'm sure on the evidence of how Cardiff marked him, will provide space for those running on behind him.

Is it time to cash in on Redders? We can't really wait around for much longer for him to realise some of that alleged potential that some fans see in him:

Personally I'd be happy to let him go in January.

We shouldn't let anyone go in January. If he goes, that'll open the floodgates and we'll be back to the Andy Hughes' of this world before you can say "Glenn Roeder". Also, it'd leave us with one winger.

Can't tempt you with a bonkers £12 million bid from a desperate Prem team? Could bring back Oli Johnson & give every season ticket holder a new X-box & FIFA 15 for that. Much less frustrating than watching Redmond at the moment. ☺️

I don't find it frustrating to watch Redmond.

I'm more frustrated when he's not in the team.

It's not just his wayward shooting that's annoying but his childish on field antics and immature Twitter posts that are beginning to grate. Seriously think it's time to cash in before his value plummets.

Most outfield players dont reach their max potential until 24-26 years old.    We have had redmond here for 15 months and he still plays (well) for england u21s.

He will continue to improve over the next 2-3 years.   He is eager to learn and his own biggest critic.     And without a doubt he is the best attacking talent at the club - decisions to keep on the bench are madness.

Sell him and we end up with more creative black hole performances that we saw against sheff weds and forest when he did not start.    And we wave cheerio to any chance of promotion which we can only get by keeping a playing our best players - redmond is amongst those.

Stop reading his Twitter stuff then.

I struggle to think of a better young prospect at Norwich City since Bellamy and you're looking at 17/18 years since he came through.

He should be scoring more goals but in my opinion that's the only part of his game that needs big improvement.

This is what Nathan has said recently. Seems like a top bloke:

“I am no stranger to that type of pressure because I have had at Birmingham and dealt with it in the past."

“For me I always wanted to stay here but being a young lad it was tough seeing a lot of stuff going on around my name."

“I was always talking to the gaffer and what he had planned and towards the end of last season we had a really good chat with just the coaching staff and David McNally and the players and we all knew the goal was to get straight back up."

“I am still young and I have played a lot of games. I have a lot of time to play in the Premier League. If I can do it here by winning the league that would be the best thing.”

Rumours, from no particularly reliable source, that Liverpool are preparing a ten million pound bid.

I would personally rather keep him.

Easily my motm yest and without him we have no threat. Sell him and its hard to see how we can gain promotion

I hope he wants to play and we choose to not sell

I think it's extremely likely we will have bids for him in January though, regardless of the reliability of the rumour.
