Traffic Stats September 2014

Couldn't see why I shouldn't share traffic and forum statistics each month.

This is a fan driven site which is dependent on whether people wish to use it or not, so thought it would be interesting for you all to see for yourself. 

Can't compare with August unfortunately, I don't have the data for that month.

Very interesting stuff.  Particularly surprised at the nearly 3 and half thousand individual visitors for the month.

I can genuinely see this overtaking the PinkUn one day. While that forum gets a lot views, i think it's number of active members is slowly declining. I think this forum is more popular with the younger generation

Why does Google appear as a user at the bottom of the screen sometimes? Is this to do with how search engines work? Ie an idicator that Google is 'detecting' the site?

When 'Google' shows at the bottom of the screen, it means a Googlebot is browsing. Those bot maps the site, literally reading every post for search engine indexing. And of course, there are also Google bots visiting to determine which ads to present on any given page (ads on this site served by Google). 

The traffic stats provided in the original post won't include hits from Google, Bing, Yahoo, Facebook or various other recognised bots. The server stats do count these hits though, and there were something like 200,000 hits from search bots during September, Google with by far the most.

Look like they will be considerably lower for October unfortunately, will work on recruiting some fresh meat to liven the place up when I've got a bit more time. 

Me not starting the match threads nice and early this month will be partially to blame for falling post counts.

Have also worked out that the first post in a thread (the topic starter) does not count towards the 'total posts' statistic. So right now it says 11340, but the actual figure is 12026 (686 threads started).

The 4.0 software update will address that by instead showing 'Total Topics' and 'Total Replies' at the bottom (so 686 topics, 11340 replies).
