If this new lad is as good as touted it makes you wonder if its worth keeping Wisdom. Really at the minute, whatever Martin thinks, I can't see him getting a game at centre back too often.

I know many will disagree but I don't really know why Whittaker is out of the team. Especially not when you look at what some of the others have been allowed to get away with.

As for Wisdom, if we're signing a right-back I doubt that sends a message to him that we really want him long term. How much will his heart be in it if he stays?

Yeah see what you're saying with Whitts, and I don't disagree. I think his downfall is that he is a bit too swashbuckling going forward sometimes, and can get caught out of position. Especially if Redmond is in front of him.

Wisdom said from the start that he is committed to winning a place at Liverpool, so we know where his heart lies. Though that was under the Brendan Rodgers, so a lot lies on whether or not Klopp likes the look of him.

Standard not burning any bridges stuff from Wisdom. Decent player but nowhere near what Liverpool would want. Getting in ahead of Clyne? Unlikely.

We may send Wisdom back to Liverpool, but also possible we'll leave Whittaker out of the 25 and send him off on loan to see out his contract in the shop window. He'll be released in the summer. 

Jurgen Klopp will probably want to take a look at Wisdom anyway?

To be frank, I think that all three of our current right backs are simply Championship quality. Top Championship players perhaps, but not Premier League standard. 

I don't really see the point in debating which one of our three Championship right backs is marginally better than the other two, when the answer is to try and sign a player who is simply Premier League quality and therefore better than all of them.

As for who stays as our back up right back, I think that was already decided in April when Russell Martin signed a deal until 2018.

No thanks, injury prone and lazy waste of space with two successive relegation's on his CV. Here's some tweets from QPR fans on his latest performance in the Championship:

I really just can't see it ever happening. Surely Alex Neil of all people hearing any suggestion at all from a Norwich scout that Leroy Fer is even the slightest bit lazy and he wouldn't touch him with a bargepole. Working hard on the pitch must rank at literally number 1 in the list of what Alex Neil likes to see from his players. 

I'd actually be angry if we signed him.

If we are going to resign any ex-players I'd rather us take a gamble on Robert Snodgrass (and you know what, if he shows a full recovery from his knee injury I bet Alex Neil would fancy him).

Whittaker,I too am not sure exactly what he has done wrong, always thought he was our best option at home bombing forward, chips in with assists and an occasional goal too.

Russell Martin, ideal player to have in the squad, versatile and committed, sure not THE best RB or CB, but actually does a better job than many would like you to think, and doesnt have to be a regular starter to be a valuable member of the squad.

Leroy.......sure, glimpses of class and THAT World Cup goal......but we need more than glimpses, and the club has now shown what quality can still be achieved within our budget i.e. Brady and Mulumbu (even with limited starts)

Owning two not quite prem league standard right backs is why wisdom is here and he is the best we have defensively. White unlucky that martin is captain otherwise whit pays while wisdom injured. Keep wisdom while pinto gets up to speed, loan sell the excess.    We were linked to yadlin in summer so clear AN feels Russ, whits inadequate.  

Fer, Snodgrass, would be OK with either both but would be surprised is we added to midfield this Jan beyond Naismith,  perhaps in the summer.  Stronger case for fer than snoddy tbh in our current squad

1. For me Wisdom was more than just not burning bridges when he said he had no intention of doing anything at Norwich than gaining experience to take back to Liverpool. He as good as said "Don't get your hopes up. I'm not staying." I'm not sure he is better than Martin. He is alarmingly slow especially on recovering. 

2. Fer came up in the summer. I think it is lazy talk albeit the source in the summer was the same one who first broke the Fer to QPR story.   I'm not sure that Fer at his best gives us much more than Vadis and Vadis has shown he wants to be here and wants to fight for a place.

I have no problem with Wisdoms honest ambition - he has been with Liverpool since a youngster so its an understandable sentiment rather than bridge burning for me. We signed him knowing it gave him experience with little expectation of making the move permanent.  I would expect to hear the same from Josh or Jacob for example;   a desire to play for your local club as a priority.   As a defender Wisdom is the best RB we currently have;  as a marauding attacking full back Whits in particular but also Martin are better - but leave too much to be desired defensively in this league. 

As FF states Wisdom,  like martin,  provides cover in a couple of positions,   although that flexibility is less valuable if we do make a couple of CB signings in Jan (which is unlikely).

As for Fer;  I agree that is lazy (how apt) journalism/ITK troll making;   ditto Snodgrass too.   I can see QPR wanting to ditch some large wages,  while Hull may need Snoddy for a sustained promotion push.   Both look much more unlikely than Rannochia.

If we were to go back to Hull I would much prefer it to be for Davies.

I think the one thing everyone who loves or works for NCFC knows is that we need a centre back and another forward player as a matter of urgency. Getting them, and bear in my mind our CEO's strange statement that we won't be "reckless", with the quality needed to fit into our tactics is either going to cost or make do with second best. They will be the most sought after positions in the window.

What I find the most amazing is the evolution in the transfer market. It wasn't far back when we were told the influx of unknown foreign players was because there was no big transfer fee involved and their higher wages would be negated because of that. Our foreign acquisitions haven't worked out at all but several of our home grown or British bought players have been far more impressive.

Overall I would agree about the overseas players not really working for us.

However I would argue Fer is the exception;   yes he was frustratingly inconsistent but he was influential on the pitch;  we won 7 of 28 starts with him but just 1 in 10 without him - a huge difference.   It was the woeful defence & inadequate strikers that got us relegated that season,  not the midfield.  We then  sold him for a handsome profit - whats not to like?  

Overall he provided far more value than any of the other summer signings that season (Hooper, RvW, Elmander)

Doesnt mean I would chose to have him back though.
