Pleased for Hooper, in my book an excellent striker, but one who simply did not fit in to the way we play, which is a shame because I'm sure we would all love to see two up front if we could do it and win enough games.  Sheffield Wednesday have themselves an excellent striker, and we have some money towards our next one hopefully.

I wouldn't say excellent. Not even convinced in the Premier League.

It s the eternal conundrum of football. Doe a player fit into a manager's system?  There are many examples of players who were overlooked for lesser players because they were not right for the way that the manager wants his team to play.Some players make the team work even though they may be less gifted.  Ed Cozens-Lake wrote a fin piece on this issue on MYFootball Writer last wee.

I always have the suspicion though that a really good player makes the manager change system to accommodate him.   The most successful managers in the last eight years here have been those who've devised systems to use Wes.  Those who couldn't and excluded Wes (Hughton and Adams) failed. In between are those players who do not fit the system the but are not good enough or special enough to change it.  Sadly for him, Hooper is one of those players.

Hogesar, its about opinions,  and ours clearly differ on Hooper, as I guess they will on others.......like I rate Bassong, many dont and also still believe that Ruddy is a better keeper than Rudd......

On Bamford, if we're going to spend £8/9m on a striker then I'd much sooner we look elsewhere. It's all very well saying that in a few years time he'll be worth double that, but an investment isn't what we need right now. We need someone who is going to come in and is going to score goals in the 2nd half of this season. For £8/9m there are many players who guarantee that much more than Bamford.

On a positive note, Neil has asked for two more signings and the Board have sanctioned that. Also, the Haller deal isn't dead yet, although one hopes that he didn't watch today's shambles!

Mame Biram Diouf from Stoke the latest name to be linked. His game time has apparently been limited since he was injured in October. Considering his early season form though I'd be pretty pleased with this if the price was right.

I seem to remember reading a rumour about Bamford coming here a week or so ago with a £10m fee involved, really cant see us paying that much for an unproven striker in the premiership that I don't think will even fit Neil's style

You may be right but this week Bamford has been 1/2 on to come to City. Someone thinks that he is coming.
