Obviously time will tell as to how good they are, but just having options is a good thing. The idea that we have to pick Mclean and Sorenson in midfield, because we have no other options, is ridiculous.

I think Mclean, with the right players around him, is absolutely fine at this level. He's a water carrier, he'll do the graft, but not really contribute much going forward. The trouble is, and was last season, is that we have too many midfielders with very similar, safeish attributes. They can do most things okay, and will give you a 6.5 out of 10 every week, without really being remarkable in any way.
There is still a place for him in the squad, but with somebody with more creativity than Sorenson, beside him.
