Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe came on for the last 23 minutes tonight in Club Brugge's 3-1 loss, so we most definitely haven't agreed a fee with the club, otherwise he wouldn't be playing.

The fee was reportedly agreed after he played against Watford. We apparently agreed a fee on Friday, if that was the case, why would he not be flying to England Saturday to agree terms? Also Neil all but said, nothing is going on right now, and nothing is imminent.

I tweeted that journo and got a response. Nothing earth shattering but the Brugge CEO says a fee is agreed and up to Vadis now (can't imagine a journo would make something like that up if the CEO hasn't said it)...

He certainly affirms that the CEO has said that, but the key part is the 'agreement in principle', if it is true. Didn't NA say that we are 'looking for to replace Fer' but that 'nothing is imminent'. Those could both be consistent with the CEO's statement.

So we have an agreement and the player is now considering if he wants to move to us, if he says yes, the agreement will be signed and he'll travel to England. If not, I guess we'll move on.

You do kind of have to ask why he would come though. Now we're a championship outfit, what exactly do we offer to lure him from Bruges? Other than an IOU of Premiership football next season we may not be able to follow up on...

I've recently become mates with someone who is part of the backroom team at Villa (he's one of the guys who scouts opposition etc).... and he's also Belgian. I asked him if he knew anything about Vadis Odjidja and he said the following:
"Ah yes. I was sent over to watch him twice I think, it was meant to be a holiday back home in Belgium but the stingy sods asked me to go to a couple games too! (shhh top secret)
He is a tidy player for a relatively big lad. From what I saw and what I know was said at the club, he has a good mix of being solid in both directions but can be explosive at the right times, he has a big shot on him and obviously at 6 feet 2 or thereabouts he can be handy in the air too.
He reminds me of a player Birmingham had (then Ipswich) in the Championship, Guriane N'daw, he was an absolute monster, big, physical and a great midfielder.
We had concerns over his fitness at one stage as he didn't seem in the best shape (last season) and in the end I think the management thought it'd be best to let Ash (Westwood) and Fab (Delph) develop and carry on in the midfield and obviously we have now bought Carlos Sanchez for Elche."
He said he has no idea how reliable that journo who is breaking the story is.
Off topic, I also asked him what exactly Gary Karsa's job role was when he was at Villa (and presumably at Norwich was the same) and he said:
"I was directly involved with Karsa, he was more of a background guy who was more supervisory and oversaw what was going on, so I can't comment from a club viewpoint but personally from what I saw he sort of dealt with things brought to his attention but he did not appear to be proactive at all."

I hope all this detailed research isn't in vain! Kompany's opinion is one I'd certainly respect and the Villa view is also interesting.

I am just willing him to agree to the move. Sounds to be as good, although slightly different, as Fer. Monster shot on him? so long as it is accurate. I wonder if his agent is in talks with us prior to him coming over to seal the deal. Just because he is not here does not mean things are not moving along.
