Virtuoso Craft Brewpub and Smokehouse (Kett's Tavern) Fined

In case people haven't seen this, though't I'd share.

Obviously I don't know the full details of the case, but my (limited) understanding was that under EU law pubs were allowed to show matches - so long as copyrighted material (the Premier League logo and 'anthem') weren't shown.

Its not a particularly big fine is it. 

I mean its a lot of money for some pubs, considering the state of that industry, but it would have cost them a lot more than £6700 for a license to show Sky games. I think those start at something ridiculous like £18000 a year for a small pub. 

So even though they've been fined, they have still saved a fortune. Not much of a deterrent. 

Sky really needs to roll out a commercial PPV so pubs can pick and choose games at a set price per game.
