I'm really looking forward to the new matrix film coming out this year
Never knew there was one! Not sure where they could go after the last one though.

But if it has Keanu in it, thats fine by me, I have a lot of man love for him!

Me too, I think it's going to be about Morpheus when he first came out of the matrix and Keane isn't going to be in it though

Liked the first matrix film, absolutely hated the second one so never bothered watching the third, seems like something I should do but it's been so long I'd probably have to watch the first two again, and I can't remember anything from them other than how much I disliked the second

Forgot about this thread!

Watched Baby driver last night, very stylish and a great soundtrack, well worth a look!

Me and the other half have tried to make Fridays "film night" now so I've watched a ton lately. Enjoyed Gone Girl and Rush, was underwhelmed by Moonlight, A Monster Calls was decent. In the cinema I really enjoyed It but was let down by Blade Runner 2049.

Watched I.D. (1995) the other day, seen it before but Morty's post about the FLA reminded me of it. If you haven't seen it already then a great film (about football hooligans).

Mostly been binging on old school Louis Theroux's though, because he's been on the telly box every Sunday.

About time we fired this thread up again!

Thor - Ragnarok. Actually really not bad, obviously if Marvel films aren't your thing its maybe not for you, but if you are, I would give it a solid 7.5 out of 10.

Been waiting for this to 'appear' for a while now, and just had a check after seeing your post and see that it has :D So I'll be watching this tonight.

Am a bit of a Marvel fan and this is supposedly one of their best films so looking for to it.

As for other films I've seen recently.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 6/10. Saw this at a midnight release the day it came out. It was enjoyable but some parts were a bit like "Wow, really?". Feel there was a lot of wasted potential with this.

Dunkirk - 9/10. Massive Christopher Nolan fan and he delivered again with this, loved it.

Song to Song - 5/10. Experimental film with Ryan Gosling, Matthew Fassbender, Natalie Portman etc about some musicians who are all in love with each other for some reason. It's a bit dull.

Geralds Game - 5/10. A weird one. A couple go to some remote cabin to try and spice up their marriage, but the husband has a heart attack whilst the wife is handcuffed to the bed frame, and from then some really quite unfortunate things happen. Not one for the faint-hearted!

Die-Hard - 8/10. Never seen it before so watched it around Christmas. Really enjoyed it.

I don't want to talk about Star Wars : The Last Jedi, after watching the franchise for 40 years now I don't know if I'm tired of it, whether Disney has ruined it, or the whole thing is just creatively bankrupt. Its sad, but I just don't know if I enjoy them any more, and trust me, I am a massive fan.

Dunkirk. I liked it, but feel it was very misrepresented by the trailers, it isn't a conventional war movie, but it was very much marketed as being "all action" which it really was never meant to be. But it had Tom Hardy flying a spitfire, so it pleased me in a superficial way lol. I think I need to watch it again frankly. A bit like Suicide squad, I loved the trailers and got myself super hyped up, and the actual event let me down a bit.

Darkest hour. I have it downloaded, but may save it for the cinema. Looks amazing in the trailers, still cannot believe that it is Gary Oldman, absolutely unbelievable makeup, and he must surely win the Oscar. Almost daren't watch it in case it lets me down.

To be fair I didn't even see any of the Star Wars' for the first time until I was an adult, and even then I wasn't that mad about them. But I've watched the originals a few times in the last year or so and each time I've liked them more and more. Empire Strikes Back in particular is a fantastic film. I didn't think The Force Awakens was great but I at least thought it did a good job of setting up the new trilogy. So yeah I was really looking forward to the Last Jedi. But then it just seemed to disregard practically everything that was set up from the Force Awakens or the trailers. As I said it was enjoyable but it wasted so much potential. I only saw it the once so I'll be interested to watch it again.

Anyway sorry you said you didn't want to talk about it :D

Yeah Darkest Hour looks great. I also had to double take when I first saw pictures and found out it was Gary Oldman. God knows how much time all that makeup and that took. Hopefully it lives up to it's billing!

I didn’t like Dunkirk at all. It’s actually about a couple of young lads trying to get on a boat in front of their mates. I really don’t how that spitfire flew around for all that time without any fuel in it.

Just watched "Darkest Hour". Absolutely brilliant, really, really enjoyed it. Still can't believe that it is Gary Oldman! Totally nailed on for the Oscar.

Definitely lives up to the hype @Din

Ah that's good to hear! I'll hopefully have a chance to watch it in the next week or so. Great though that a lot of people are saying it lives up to the hype.

Watched Thor Ragnarok also, and would agree with you that it's a 7.5/10. Really enjoyed it.

Wonder Woman. Hugely enjoyable. Will definitely watch it again.
Before that, Dunkirk for the second time and Darkest Hour is next up.
But back to Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot is excellent.

If you're a fan of a superhero film I can definitely recommend Thor Ragnarok, or is it just Wonder Woman you're interested in? ;)

I enjoyed Dunkirk more the second time around, I didn't pay much heed to the timeline concepts first time I watched, and once I realised what they were doing with it, it made more sense.

Watched it yesterday, and completely agree! All the way through I was thinking there's no way Churchill's gonna win this war :D

But yeah, Oldman, unbelievable. The moments in particular where he was giving speeches in parliament were absolutely enthralling. Fantastic film.

Back at sea now so watching more movies!

Molly's game - True story of an Olympic skier who ended up running high end poker games. Not bad at all, 6.5/10.

Atomic Blonde - Good quality action film starring Charlize Theron and James Macevoy, set in Berlin as the wall is coming down. Spy intrigue, violence and Ms Theron prancing about in big boots, and getting special friendly with another lady. 7/10.
