What next for Neil Adams?

I can't see him being given a coaching role under Alex Neil or anything like that and going back to work with the kids would be a step backwards. But I can't see him wanting to abandon his coaching career in favour of a non-footballing role. Can anyone really see him employed by Norwich next season? Surely he'd be better off managing a lower league side and working his way up.

Neil Redfearn decided to go back to his previous role at Leeds, as head of their youth system where he's developed a good reputation bringing through kids like Sam Byram. 

Do we have a 'Head of Youth Development'? If we don't then give him that title, if we don't then could we create a new job for him which oversees all of our academy + u21 & u18 teams? Could even put Director in the job title. 

Whilst no doubt a year ago he'd have been hoping he'd just embarked on a long and successful career as a football manager he could hardly balk at a well paid job overseeing the youth system of a Premier League club with a Category 1 academy considering that for a long time he was a part-time U14 academy coach of a struggling Championship side and a part-time local radio presenter on the side. 

I do hope we find a role for him, as his achievements in helping to bring through our best crop of youngsters in two decades shouldn't be dismissed or ignored.

Isnt Greg Brougton still the academy manager which is essentially the head / director of youth development?   Perhaps the head of player recruitment/ cheif scout whatever its called is an opton if the burnley rumours are not true? 

If I was him and wanting to be a manager then I would be looking for a managerial role instead of using the safety blanket of a role here.

Its hard to know how much he wanted to be 'a manager' or 'Norwich City manager'. I could see him returning to his old role, I think most people would welcome him back - would be a measure of the man if he could swallow his pride and come back and ignore those who might scoff - Id be very impressed if he could do that

I wonder if he might have a Gary Karsa type role coordinating the various levels of the club from the Academy up to the first team. Would make sense to me.

I'm surprised people think any teams will offer him a job as manager at any level. He did a very poor job.

He didn't really do that badly. 


 


Would certainly take him over the other internal appointments I've seen at this club.

If you compare us to the other two relegated clubs he didn't do that bad a job. We started well, went through a bad spell and then seemed to be turning it round, just not quite enough. An ambitious League One or Two club might be impressed with that experience. 

He was definitely extremely keen to be Norwich manager. At the end of the Premier League season he said he wanted it and he thought he'd done enough to get it and even said he wasn't sure he could go back to his youth role.

I'm sure the club can find a role for him which wouldn't seem too much of a step backwards but if he can find a club willing to give him another chance as a manager it would be better for him to take it.

I can remember saying, when he walked or took a subtle push that there were many clubs who would bitten our hands off to be we were sitting in the table,  So in effect he didn't do such as bad job as some would make out. I think that also in play was the fact the club seemingly had to  obtain promotion at the first attempt for other reason we do not know about;   but with the slump (that every one goes through) they could not see him pulling us out of it. To obtain the goal.

What would have happened or been said if AN had made a right fist of a job..   I dare everyone would have been shouting for his head long before wembley came round on the calandar.

There was a story a few months ago that Adams was working with the England youth. I think it was the U17's. I really hope that worked out for him because he needs a role outside of City. He is good at what he does and ought to build his career on his abilities.

England youth would be good for him, would allow him to go back to what he did well and still feel like a step forward. Hope there is some truth in that

I think he's the assistant manager of the England under 17's, don't think he's the main man. I'd like to see him involved in our youth set-up, but if he's happy where he is then fair enough.

Would love to see him back in the Norwich set up in some capacity, probably won't be with the first team, however he could oversee academy? Or something along those lines

According to the FA site Adams is one of 24 coaches doing the FA UEFA Pro Licence who are at the Under 21's Championships, to observe and analyse matches and performance. So he has clearly plans to remain in top level coaching.
