Total rebuild as the squad we have is looking very tired and to be honest are just not good enough.

Prior to Brentford, we had a run of 5 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss over 7 games (scoring 20 goals, conceding 7). That's hardly imploding, in fact it's promotion form. So what changed? Well, Mike Phelan left and Neil was on his own with Holt to set up the team. According to Turner, the players 'bought into' Phelan in a big way, learning a lot from him and the sessions he put on. Then he leaves and with McAvoy not yet here it was just Neil and Holt setting up the team for Brentford. Lack of continuity, new tactics, too many changes, too many injuries, all contributing to a poor performance?
A total rebuild isn't going to happen this window but some tweaking might. It then comes into whether the players buy into Neil and McAvoy, but that's what managers are appointed for. Birmingham will tell us more.

I watched Sheffield United last night and I got me analysing us as much as anything. I enjoyed their performance. They mixed passing football with the odd long ball into the mix. And of course it was down to the manager. Clough.
So looking at us, we will make errors because we have some not so good players at the moment. Poor control is now "heavy touch" according to the pundits but regularly done and its a poor player. And it is happening a bit too often for our liking.
But overall, and watching a L1 side last night, I came to think that maybe what is more important is the way a manager sets up what he has available at any given time (surely they should sing from the same hymn sheet), the tactics they employ and the motivation he gives them to achieve success.
That in essence is probably what I wish for right now.
I have belly ached about our last couple of performances and implicated the manager. I really hope he succeeds. I had never heard of him and it was a choice no-one would have believed our board would have made. So that kind of made it exciting and even revolutionary. I am fed up with the managerial merry go round and resulting inward looking witch hunts we are all guilty of whether its the board, players or manager.
So what I wish for is for Alex Neil to be the right man on Saturday. He had problems picking a team admittedly due to injuries and we all know, he got it wrong. But that is a week ago and he has had a chance to absorb his problems, absorb the criticism and now hopefully, realise it isn't down to sound bytes and platitudes and images. It is ultimately getting this team back to somewhere near the top.
So even if we don;t get the nice win at the weekend, I want to see some sign that he is a good manager because he has learnt from his mistakes.
