Whats the most excited you've ever been about a signing?

Variation on a theme, but irrespective of what they actually went on to achieve, what was the signing that got you the most excited when you heard?

We all got very excited about RvW, Hucks goes without saying (but of course he signed twice, firstly on loan, secondly permanently - when we knew already how good he could be for us)

But which signing most made you excited?

I got really excited when Robert Fleck re-signed for us.

For me it was Martin Peters......as a lad I had met him a couple of times after the World Cup when he was on holiday at a Holiday Camp in Hopton-on-Sea, I guess the equivalent of the players coming to Dubai these days. My Dad introduced him to me, and I was absolutely amazed I had met a World Cup winner, couldnt stop talking about it apparently. So, then a few years later to see him sign for our great Club was amazing, I couldnt believe it, at the time it was a stunning signing. In addition we then had a run of signing some big names over a few years, something that I cant see happening again at our club as those big name equivalents are now way out of our budget, even towards the end of their careers.

When we signed Hucks was certainly special in the more modern day era.

I  have no shame in admitting i nearly wet myself with excitement when we signed RVW! I remember the news came through at like midnight and i woke up my parents to tell them.   I then spent the following weeks watching all his highlight videos on Youtube. I remember saying "well if he gets 30 goals and gets us in the top half and leaves for Man City or Chelsea, at least we'll get a tonne of cash for him".

I agree with Mark. Signing Peters was massive for the club at the time, in terms of bringing recognition. The guy was an amazing player and Ramsey wasn't wrong to say he was 10 years ahead of his time. I played against him a couple of times when he was nearly 40 and playing for Gorleston and his ability to read the game was incredible.

I was swept up with the hype of RvW. Even at the end I was always hoping he would come good. How disappointing!

Trying to think of new candidates, but in the Worthington era I was pretty impressed that we'd signed Helveg, a player with 100 caps and having played for both Milan sides. Was disappointed that he proved to be very much past his best.

I had also read an article in which Dennis Bergkamp (whilst we're talking of Milan) was raving about this young lad they had called David Bentley, who was labelled - the next Dennis Bergkamp. So was stoked a few years later when we signed him.

Was also pretty excited when we signed Jacob Butterfield - though this was only because he'd come with the tag of 'the next Paul Gascoigne'

Yup ''He'll be our Michu'' were my words on RVW. Oh well.

Since RVW I've toned down my hype and just learned to be happy when one comes off. Like Jerome has this season, already doubled the number of goals I was expecting.

Same with me.  I've suddenly become very pessimistic whenever we sign someone. The only signing i was quite happy about last summer was Grabban. Jerome has definitely been a pleasant surprise.

Undoubtedly van Wolfswinkel for me. In particular after he scored on the opening day I thought we were gonna have a 20 goal a season player. I do have a degree of sympathy for him because the way we played last season just did not suit him at all, but ultimately for the money we paid I expected him to be so much better. So disappointing.
